Want to Earn More Steem? Here's A Guide Explaining How to Maximize Your Steemit Profitability!

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

As a new Steemer, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by everything you must learn about the platform. If you still don’t understand how exactly Steem Power is created, or how blockchain currencies work, that’s okay. At a minimum, you understand that Steem has a real value that you can earn for authoring and curating content.

In this post, I’m going to explain some basic rules that are often overlooked, but when applied, will maximize the amount that you earn with Steemit.com! Hopefully this helps anyone that isn't making as much money as they were expecting, who want to see better results using this social platform.

It’s Time to Learn the Rules

So, what do I mean by “maximizing your profitability?” Everyone has different end goals for spending time and effort building a community on Steemit. Here are some common ways that you can “profit” from the community:

  • By collecting Steem currencies for authoring content.
  • By collecting Steem currencies for curating content.
  • By building your number of followers and thereby your influence.
  • By collecting Steem currencies by offering products and services to the community.

Before I dive into these four ways of earning income on Steemit, I need you to understand one thing. Success on Steemit is not about the money!

At first, you might only think about the monetary rewards for your direct contributions here. If you’re a new user like I am, you may feel unsuccessful if you’re not earning what you believe you’re worth by writing content. It’s important to understand that the amount you earn authoring and curation aren’t the only ways that you can profit here on Steemit!

Even if you’re not happy with what you’ve previously earned per post, if your content leads to just one new follower, then you should see your work as a success. Every day on this platform you have access to an active audience whose lives you can change through your content.

With that in mind, remember to not connect the dollar amount you earn from your content with your true value. I want you to always remember that even if you don’t make money on any of your posts, you’re still performing activities that grow your skills and build the community. This is important, so write it down if you must.

Now that my main point is out of the way, let’s jump into maximizing your profitability. To do that, we should revisit the rules of Steemit.

What Do We Know About Publishing Content on Steemit?

First, if you look at the popular content here on Steemit, you can tell that it educates, informs, or entertains. But this doesn’t mean that you should expect to maximize your published content earnings by simply sharing a link or posting a video...

Just think for a second. Would you expect to get a better response sharing your favorite music video, or by writing an epic blog post explaining how to create a best-selling music video?

Steemer’s love high quality content that has valuable insights and that’s what they consistently reward. If you don’t believe me, just glance at the trending content.

Second, after four blog posts per day, your earning potential goes down. Does this mean you should post four times in one day? Not particularly, unless you’re able to produce quality content consistently. But it does mean that your fifth blog post should probably be saved for tomorrow.

According to @shenanigator’s Official Steemit FAQ, you’re able to earn 65% the amount you otherwise would have earned on your fifth blog post in one day, and it keeps falling as you post more frequently. Get to the fourth blog post if you have a lot to say that day, then take a break.

Third, don’t plagiarize or spam. You will get flagged if you copy other people’s work and once your reputation score falls to zero or below, your content won’t even appear. That’s not the way to maximize your publishing income. Keep these rules in mind whenever you publish content on Steemit. Follow the rules and you’ll ensure that you maximize your potential income from writing blog content.

So, What Can You Do to Maximize Your Curation Profitability?

Once again, when it comes to ensuring that you make as much as you possibly can per day curating, then you must understand how Steemit curation works. By voting and resteeming posts before they become popular, you can maximize your curation income. But there’s a limit to your voting power and other considerations to keep in mind. Here’s what you need to remember:

  1. According to @thecryptofiend’s The Missing FAQ, 25% or less of the earnings of a post go directly to the curators who upvote and resteem the content.
  2. You cannot simply vote on everything to receive Steem for curating content. You have a voting power percentage that runs out every time you upvote a post or comment. It runs out somewhere between 20 – 27 upvotes in a 24-hour period. Check how much voting power you have left by visiting https://steemd.com/@youraccount, then vote on content until you have no voting power left. Any votes after 0% won’t affect your earnings.
  3. The amount of earnings you can receive for curating content depends on when you upvote the content. To maximize your earnings at 25%, you want to upvote content after it has been published for 30 minutes. Upvoting before 15 minutes results in the author receiving most of the curation Steem. After 15 minutes, you’ll give approximately half of the curation Steem to the author.
  4. You want to upvote and resteem content before it’s popular to maximize your earnings. 5. Always read the post first, make sure it’s high quality, and ideally, leave a comment. Don’t upvote content just because you think it’ll be popular without first reading it.

What If I Don’t Care About the Money and Just Want More Followers?

Followers are a reward that is just as important as income. After all, the more people who follow you, the more likely they’ll be to popularize your content though curation. It’s also great just to have a community of people who are familiar with your work and can give you a support system throughout your life.

Treat your followers like gold by producing and curating great content because they’re the most important part of your success. Here’s how to maximize the number of followers you earn:

  • Post valuable content. If you haven’t realized by now, it’s all about the content you’re creating! The more valuable your content, the easier it is for people to learn about your profile and connect with you.
  • Reply to comments on your writing. It would be crazy to comment to everyone on every post, but you should at least talk to people who have added value to your content in the comments section. These people share your interests and have taken the time to engage with your work. That’s incredibly valuable! Form a stronger connection with your audience and show them that you’re not just here to make money from your posts, but rather to create a community.
  • Comment on other great content. After you’ve read a blog post you wish that you created, share your thoughts and experiences with the author! Go beyond, “great post,” and add value to their content. This is both an opportunity to connect with the author and the community that reads their work. You have plenty of time while you wait for the post to hit the 30-minute mark to comment after you read a post, so do this consistently.

Now you understand how to maximize your profitability by authoring, curating, and building connections with your followers. But your work shouldn’t just end there! There’s an even better, yet somehow overlooked way to maximize your profitability on Steemit, and that’s by selling your products and services.

How Can You Increase Your Profitability on Steemit By Selling Your Products and Services?

I’m not aware of a Steemit topic or tag that you can use to promote your products and services, but there are websites out there like @steemrollin’s Peerhub where you can do it easily.

The best thing is that Peerhub doesn't have tons of competition. Imagine the opportunity of being one of the first in your niche to offer services to the Steemit community. You can control the price you earn, the products and services you offer, and determine the best way for you to give back to the community.

Setting up an account on Peerhub is incredibly easy and quick. You can have products and services on that site within minutes and even promote what you do in your next blog post. In my next blog post, I’ll teach you how to setup a profile there and killer sales pages that sell your products and services for you. My goal is to earn you some additional Steem by doing whatever it is that you love to do.

How does this sound? Do you think that it’s manageable to maximize your income using Steemit? I sure do!
