How to fake your Steemit pay-outs, and prank someone? / How to edit and preview your posts without using bandwidth? (Simple trick)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I wanted to change the title of my post from yesterday but didn't wanted to use bandwidth for previewing how it would look.

The below trick can be used for change (Steemit) website values/fields for previewing purpose.

When i was playing with this it made me think some people maybe want to use this method for pranking someone.

And maybe you want to see how it looks if your potential payout would rocket trough the sky?

The tutorial has 3 simpel steps and the changes will not be saved to Steemit:

How to (pc/mac):

1. Right click on your potential payout (the value you want to change)

2. From the menu select: "Inspect element" (this will open the source code editor)

3. Find this value in the page source code that just opened, and change it to the value you want.

After you have changed the value you can close the editor.
(the changed values are only visable on your PC and after you refresh the website or click any link the real results will be reloaded.)

Example of the results

Just tried this prank but i could not let the other person to believe it for more than a few seconds, because it made me feel guilty, and i wanted to tell its a prank, but it was fun :D for the few seconds it lasted :)

"Warning", i think it's bad to let the pranked person believe the false information, so i suggest to use it for a quick laugh and NOT for deluding!

It could also be useful to know this method in case someone want to trick you with it.

This method can be used to change and preview your post titles and other things like that. (see the above image) The previews will not cost you your Steemit bandwidth, because this method can not save to Steemit.

The trick is simple, no rocket science and is mostly used by programmers, but can also be useful for Steemit users to preview and edit things without using bandwidth.

Are you haxor, sir? :)
Nice trick, glad that blockchain prevents this tampering.

You have really interesting content on your channel.
Following you mate, looking forward for other posts, especially interested in "Laserbeam"
We want to use something similar for our band's visuals in the future.
DIY style...

Thanks for your comment, and im happy to read you like my other content as well :)

Laserbeam is a very fun project and does not take much time to make, even without a 3d printer one could make it with cardboard or some plastic box / food container.

The other two items that are needed will cost you around 20 dollars on the market or in the dollar shop.

You could also look to upgrade the laserpointer battery with a big powerbank. (the standard 1000mAh battery lasted for around maybe 30 min but this also depend on the power usage of you laserpointer)

It's a simple but powerful and cheap way to advertise and beam logos.

i will write a full review on steemit about it soon, now the pictures are a entry for the Steemit Steetart contest

Will be nice if you would show me photos of your project.

Heh. That seems neat. It would be kinda cool to use 3 diffrent lasers with 3 diffrent colors to create basically any color. Still, very neat.

Great for few seconds prank

I like your photos! You are grate! Follow me for more comm.
