RE: Why I am quitting steemit - and you should too

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Oh I've learned from this alright! Reminded again why we can't have nice things.

I am not "afraid". Just... disappointed. Steemit is a platform with endless potential being spoiled by violent bullies.

Do I think vote buying and upvote bots are "good"? No. I honestly wish steemit was built in a way that truly rewarded quality content and gave it the visibility it deserves, driving content popularity through organic user interaction.

But it's not.

It's built to give visibility to whoever has more power and money. How is this different from any other type of media, where the rich set the agenda? It's not. Hence, my anger and disappointment.

I wrote this before and I will write it again - money never played that big of a role for me on steemit. I make a lot more per word writing else. I came here to contribute to the community. And got punished for it.

There's nothing I'd like more than an adult discussion on what needs to be done to make steemit better. But that's how I ended up in this mess - I tried to start such a conversation. But the local bullies profiting from the current state of affairs don't want a conversation. In fact, they react violently to any attempt to start one.

I am a lover, not a fighter. And being dragged into this fight made me waste too much time on a brilliant vision turned into a pyramid scheme.

As we say in Israel: "Pity on my time".

This reaction from you is not logical though. Your own statement clarifies that it is not the way you want to address the issues.

You can't always get what you want. All this does is feed bernie. I'm sure he loves all this attention. As do you actually. Let's be honest. That's why you can't stop.

No more input from me. This is not productive. Take a break and rethink your approach.

I'm not even an amoeba on here, never mind a minnow, but.....

You live by morals and ethics or monetary reward. You can't have it both ways, if using bots etc.
You are supporting the very system you say is wrong. This is illogical, and intellectually dubious.

Don't get me wrong, I have used the bots also ( but I'm stupid, and still trying understand this thing called steemit).

I left for 10 days, to clear my head of steemit, because of the frustrations and negative feeling it was creating.

Now returned- the fight @berniesanders seems to be doing, is a necessary one- if steemit is going to evolve to something that is not as corrupt.

I have just followed him tbh, because of this. ( but I hate his name, sorry bernie. lol)

So you support bullying and violence against random steemit users by nextgencrypto (aka bernie)?

Bullying is shit, I agree.
(can you copy and paste the original ' tinderbox 'comment, as I havn't been able to find it ?).

And this it is not violence.

Seriously. It isn't.

At your service. :)

Isn't threatening to bury or destroy someone kinda violent? I asked a question. If he replied like an adult? I would have been on his "side". If he communicated like an educated human being, there could have been a discussion and mutual community effort to make the platform better for everyone.

But he chose to descend to name-calling in his very first interaction with me. And then I kinda lost my shit too. Hence this uncharechteristic flounce post. That ain't me. He managed to bring out the worst in me and I am not happy about it either.

yup , I think the level was a bit over the top, for the response you gave.

No, it's not 'kinda violent'.
(Hitting someone with a metal bar over the head is kinda violent).

It appears to me you got the flak of his angst against minnow booster, tbh. ( the innocent are always the real casualties in war).

(I have used minnow booster in my posts too, out of frustration).

The logic still persists though - in regards of fighting the bot war - you can't criticize it then use it.

I have not really been active of steemit for a couple of weeks - not like I was previous to that, at any rate.

  • I wrote this 5 days ago, relevant to this subject ( I'm really not a techy lol)

I am going to start posting again without any bots, until I come to a conclusion of which ways it's going, one way or another.
If I decide it is going to just become a bot fest - I'm gaming it, and fuck it!

(I hope it's not and we can actually get rid of them -and just have organic, human voting/commenting ect)

Amen. Like I said - the upvote services are not a solution, but they are a natural result of the bad power distribution and anti-user-friendly interface.

Hope you take some steps back and see there's more good than bad to be had being part of Steem.

See even with big flags, people still read your posts.

Nope. There's more bad than good. It's why my creative writing and valuable original content will not appear here. It's why I stopped encouraging people to join and onboarding new users.

I had nextgencrypto (bernie) and his fake users downvote stories I put my heart and soul into and write that they were "shitposts". If I wanted to be a verbal punching bag for rich douchebags, I've been offered a column in the local version of Playboy. They pay a lot more than steemit ever could.

So... I am really running out of reasons to come back. Aside from commenting enough to drain nextgencrypto's endless supply of voting power. And offer him all the hugs he obviously needs.
