RE: This is how you REALLY tip a waitress or waiter and do your part in spreading Steemit all at the same time.

Yes. This is nice.

As a former server and resident math dude, I feel compelled to share a lesson.

  • Did you have an okay time dining? Move the decimal one to the left. Take that number and double it. That's your tip!
  • Did you LOVE dining out? Move the decimal place one to the left. Triple that. That's your tip!

Servers make waaaaay less than minimum wage in the US, and could deserve a break every now and again. Why not leave 20% over the standard 15%? It's just a few dollars you probably would have wasted anyways.

And don't penalize your waiter if something went wrong but they still provided good service! There's only so much a waiter can control.

Tipping is a cultural thing, but still I find these people should not depend on our generosity to make a living from their hard work. It's their boss stealing part of the "wage" from his customers, in essence.

If they are making less than minimum wage the employer is legally obligated to cover the difference. Im sure most people don't keep track and asking your employer for it could get you fired but thats what is supposed to happen. I actually hate the tipping culture, why should I tip someone for doing their job. Granted its a shitty job but so is picking oranges outside in 100 degree weather and those guys don't get shit.
