What to do with the 'donation' bought for me (please read)

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

This is a short competition post.

A little over a week ago I received a memo transfer:

My answer was:

Firstly, what will I do with it? Probably power it up as it is relatively insignificant but perhaps when I delegate it out to someone, they will be able to use it.

Here is the full reply post

Now, the bidbot votes were about 12 dollars.

I am too lazy to work out the curation etc so lets call it 12 and without the curation 10 Steem.

What I have decided to do is a blend of what I said I would, I am going to POWER IT UP!!!

Except,

I am going to power it up into someone else's account.

I have no good way to decide, so I have decided to crowd source it a bit and let you guys decide. I don't like long, drawn out competitions where people have to beg and resteem and the like so it will end some time tonight.

Prizes:

2 x 5 STEEM (powered up)

Rules:

  • Only Rep 45 and under are eligible to win
  • Write a one sentence comment with 50 words or less on, why bidbots are bad for Steemit
  • Do Not self-vote it
  • Vote on at least one other person's comment.
  • The top two comments get 5 Steem powered up each.
  • Only people who do not use bidbots can win (I will check the last week or two of their posts)

Sound fair? Maybe not but that is what you've got ;)

Ok, I have to run to the shops and then answer comments I couldn't before so, Good luck.

EDIT for WINNERS

As said, I didn't want to mess around so the winners of 5 Steem each powered up are:

@nwtdarren
@alignment

congrats

Bid bots make steemit more like money for money website, don’t enhance good quality content but only paid content which is very discouraging to new users, and finally you don’t have to bother about how to improve your writing or blogging skills as long as you can buy upvotes.

Thank you @tarazkp. 🙂

Bidbots ruin good humour, and fair curation of feeds.

congrats :)

Thanks very much, @tarazkp. I will go do some reading to better understand my win :)

Bidbots is very bad.

  1. Because it can make a post get an unwarranted reward
  2. Because as a steemian if you keep using bot you don't develop yourself in good write up.
  3. Its also make you not to help other people as you don't need anyone help to earn on your post.
  4. Bidbot negate everything steemit stands for.

The word is "bot" :)

I would like to nominate a few planktons that are below 45 and i believe will make a good addition around here. So lets get them some POWER !!!!
@omnicolor
@phoebz

I will vote later. ak them to comment if you can.

yes sir. i sent messages to both. they are both at 44 rep right now but @phoebz just had a d live video get pretty big so please don't disqualify either of them if they cross 45 before the contest ends. Just looking out for my minnows. :)

LOL, plankton. I'm imagining the plankton from that kid's movie.

Spongebob Squarepants . my kids watch that all the time. That reminds me of my dad to. he had a pair of Sponge bob pajama pants that he insisted on wearing when going to wal-mart. He was quite the character.

I feel like it was a movie since I (well, my son) don't watch Spongebob. Maybe an Ice Age?

LOL, I'm thinking of the krill in the second Happy Feet. Thanks to WIFE for the clarification.

ah, i was going to say Plankton is the bad guy on sponge bob

Wow...unfortunate I can't participate but it's all good. Let's leave this for the newbies and watch how good they are with the platform. #smiles

you can help by voting on one or two :)

Thanks for helping minnows and for the opportunity you are creating for the minnows...kudos to you sir @tarazkp

I'm completely ineligible..My reputation is 46 and I used bidbots several times..Only experience makes a man perfect..So my advice to Newbies would be to get acquainted with this concept by experimenting it.

Bidbots are no longer profitable..ROI continues to be in less than zero..and some etiquettes are there to follow too..One thing is bidders can increase their own reputation through the bots..But it would be of no use..A 70 rep person having less than 1000SP in his/her wallet would be of no use to the community!

indeed.

I had a comment by steemitboard on one of my posts. Is that a bot? It looks like one...do I report it? I would really rather not have it doing its business on my comment feed...

it is a bot created by @arcange and goes to quite a useful page at times called:

You can ask it to stop also by replying to it I think it says. Bots are part of the ecosystem, some are useful, some are not.
