New on steemit? These 5 steps might help you to feel more comfortablesteemCreated with Sketch.

Dedicated to all the newbies out here who just joined the party.

Before I start giving you some recommendations, the following is the most important of all:

"The best surfer out there is the one having the most fun." Phil Edwards

So besides all the technological knowledge, blogging theory and lobbying: ENJOY THE RIDE! IT´S ALL ABOUT FUN!

5 steps how to position yourself on steemit

  1. Knowledge: Study study study! Read as much as you can about as much as you can. As always in life: knowledge is the basis. Analyse posts which have been successful (many upvotes, comments and $) and compare them with the ones which haven´t. Study the profiles of the ones who are 'famous' in the network, the ones who have high reputation and are supported by many followers. Follow them, they will teach you well.
  2. Brand: Define your brand. Choose the sectors you wanna compete in and the corresponding 'tags' your stories might fit in. You can add 5 tags to every post. Bear in mind that the most popular tags are also the most frequented. That means that - at least in the beginning when your reputation is still not that hight - your content might stand out easier in categories which are less popular. But as always in life: everything is about trying, failing, learning, standing up again and trying...:-) Maybe you´ll start in one section and then find out that another one is working much better. See it as a game, relax and don´t expect miracles. Like always in life you will need a) patience and b) consistency to reach your goals.
  3. Community: I don´t overdraw saying that steemit has one of the strongest communities I have ever seen in social networks. Have a look at the steemfest-tag and you will understand what I mean! So be open and get in contact with others. Log in at steemit.chat, don´t fear to ask in the help-chat if you don´t understand anything. The only stupid question is the one which hasn´t been yet expressed. Don´t forget to make an introduction post (introducemyself-tag) telling us a bit who you are, why you are here and what we gonna expect from you - like this the community knows with whom to deal with, and you´ll have your first followers for sure.
  4. Power: Be pro staff not anti staff. Use your steem power and upvote what you like, comment what you love, resteem what you consider worth sharing, be critical but always constructive. Don´t blame anybody and follow the rules. We´re all here for better. Everybody has his/her own personal reasons why to be a steemian. They range from economical over social to ideological through uncountable shades. So: live and let live!
  5. Growth: You are already incalculably lucky because you´re here. Congratulations! To keep the ball rolling you might tell your friends. So don´t hesitate to share your steemit content on other platforms, spread the idea and help the network to keep growing and growing and growing. This party has no doormen :-)

Never forget why you started. But this is just the beginning :-)
Good luck & steem on!

Cheers & live your dream,
Marly -
