What would happen if a “Best Seller” was published on Steemit..??
BEST SELLING AUTHORS ON STEEMIT
Inspired by a reply I made to a comment on a post yesterday I decided to write this blog.
Question..!! "What would happen if a “Best Seller” was published on Steemit..??"
At the moment Steemit is publishing a large amount of various quality content but what would happen if an unknown author decided to blog a book on Steemit and that blog book became a Best Seller?
I am sure a few would question whether it would have any great effect and I would accept that.
However, what would happen if this Best Seller attracted the attention of other unknown authors who saw the rewards that were being made decided to publish theirs?
1 Best Seller would probably do very little, and 2 would raise awareness, but what would happen if a rack of Best Sellers were drawn to Steemit and began to publish their books?
As most of you who follow me will know I am a huge fan of Steemit, not only for the blogging site but for the potential of STEEM as an alternative currency which is backed by imagination, inspiration and creativity.

While you are pondering on the thought of what would happen if Steemit attracted the publication of a number of "Best Selling" books, what would happen if it wasn't just books but records..!!
SHOWCASING CREATIVITY
Steemit is not like other Social Media Sites and I would even question whether it is classed as a Social Media site.
Sure it is great for posting, blogging, meeting, sharing and chatting, but what would really happen if unknown Writers, Artists, Musicians, Poets, Painters ....etc decided to use Steemit to showcase their creativity?
"Exciting times" doesn't even come close to describing the potential..!!

@ericvancewalton, @ezzy and @michelle.gent (me) have all posted our work on steemit - to very different rates of success.
The problem comes when the author tries to publish the novel on Amazon KDP - because the KDP part wants absolute exclusivity and if the book is published elsewhere, it won't qualify.
Also, if a Trad-Pub Publishing house wants to buy the rights to the book, they usually insist on having all rights, which means the book would have to be removed from steemit - impossible past 30 days because you can't edit your posts and delete them.
So, when a writer posts their work on Steemit, they are giving the community something of real value. Not only are they donating their work, their time and energy, they are also donating any future that particular book may have.
I totally get what you are saying but think that in time this will change. The world is changing and in the future the way content is published will change. Steemit is setting the ground work for this new way of sharing quality creativity and Amazon will play a huge role in this. Thanks for the comment I really appreciate it. Stephen

I thought Amazon only wants exclusivity if you want to be in the Kindle Unlimited? Otherwise your material can be anywhere.

No, KDP is exclusive to Amazon.
interesting, they must have changed their policy. The last I looked at it, the 90 day exclusivity was to be included in the Kindle Unlimited which a lot of authors are finding is more lucrative to opt out of.
I think a lot of authors are finding their terms too restrictive. You can opt out of exclusivity, but they don't half play some rotten games with you if you do.
the pleasures of being a huge monopoly eh ... can beat down your customers and they are supposed to like it.
Would this "best seller" be published solely on Steemit? Or would it have to be sold some place else while also being available on Steemit?
This answers would be very important because it will determine how new folks will be drawn to the platform. How do they get to hear about the book? And many other questions.
It doesn't matter. It is no different to an "Amazon Best Seller" or a "Waterstones Best Seller" or any other outlet. I'm talking of a completely brand new way of publishing where the author has full interaction with their readers. Think of it like a "Smart Book". It has never been done before and will be VERY POWERFUL..!! Stephen
Yes. Stephen is very right. The idea of a "smart book" looks interesting. Readers can even get to contribute what happens to the characters and how the story pans out.
Sharing on all other available outlets would also be a way to get the word out. I believe if the story gets 400 upvotes on here and they all share on their other social media sites, people outside will definitely begin to take notice.

That is right for fiction and for non-fiction the author can interact with their reader and ask questions. This is a VERY, VERY, VERY POWERFUL way of publishing that has never been done before in REAL TIME..!! Stephen

I know. But it wouldn't be $0.16 if ALL of Amazons "Best Sellers" published their work on STEEMIT. They havn't gone to Amazon to host for nothing..!! Stephen
