HARDFORK DAY !! WHAT CHANGES WILL BE MADE AND WHEN !!!

You have probably came across the news and the hype concerning the upcoming hardfork 19.

So basically HF19 is basically an upgrade witnesses make in order to improve the steem blockchain in the favor of it's users.

What is a witness ?

If you are fimiliar with bitcoin's ProofOfWork process you won't find this hard to understand since bitcoin uses miners and nodes to verify transaction and create new blocks Steem is based on a Delegated Proof of Stake or DPOS system where witnesses are the trusted users who create new blocks and they get elected by the steemit users :

and just to everything clear the witness term is only associated with the steem blockchain.

What are the changes that are going to be made ?

HF19 is mostly about changing the voting power and the curation reward where the upvoting power is going to 4x more but you only get 10 upvotes and also it is going to implement linear rewards in wich your voting power will be equal to your steem power (steem power = 1 vote) meaning that accounts with large amounts of steem power won't have a large advantage over accounts with less steem power.

When is this going to take effect ?

The code for HF19 is already up and running by most of the witnesses but it only gets activated on the 20th of june 2017 at 15:00:00 UTC (3 hours and 20 minutes from the time of writing this post)
