Lost In The Steemit Tags / Some Posts Only Visible For 7 Days... Did You Know This?
I recently noticed some odd things with the tags on Steemit and I think it should be mentioned here. One week after making some posts about my SteemChillerTools (SCT) for Steemit, I visited the tag "#sct", which I've used to create sort of a grouping for my posts and I saw that my posts are gone. Of course they still exist in the chain and in my profile, but they are no longer reachable via the tag "#sct"…
Here is my intro post for the SCT:

As you can see, when you take a look at the tags, I've used "#sct" there. When you click on the tag you might see something you didn't notice before ;)
Here is a post with the German tag "#gedicht", which is also no longer shown in that category. It's one of my best poems (got me $66). When I visit the tag "#gedicht" it's no longer there, but there are other poems that only got $2 and are much older:

Is there a filter for some authors (like me) active or how can that be? Of course it will have other reasons, but one could think bad things, right?
I think this should be changed, because when new German users for example visit Steemit for the first time and want to see some poems, they can only see a small part of what is inside the blockchain...
I hope this is only a Bug and not a feature, but very good that you pointed it out.
Yes, I hope so too! It looks like the current solution is still in a beta state :)
are you sure there are older ones?
afaik the tag-archives only load posts that are not past their reward payout - thus max 7 days old?!
I think this is done to minimize the strain on DB queries, and posts older than that won't get rewards anymore anyways.
Yes, there are: https://steemit.com/created/gedicht (scroll down)
That are not all poems that have been posted in that tag. Maybe it was changed in the last months. This could really have to do with DB performance, but then the question is, how G+, FB, Twitter etc. are able to do it with much much more queries :)
I think this should be changed, because when new German users for example visit Steemit for the first time and want to see some poems, they only see a small part of what is inside the blockchain...
hm... you are right... it does load quite a few oooold ones when scrolling down...
I'll look at the condenser (steemit-frontend) code on github if I find the time... makes me curious to see how that's pulled.
as for G+ and FB... they have big expensive datacenters and do not need to interact with a DB that's maintained on a blockchain... but yeah, performance could definitely do with some improvcements around here ;)
that is weird and makes it even harder to find vertain posts/hashtags ... and i think this should be changed ... but as we see .. nobody cares ... your post went down the steem stream and ?! ... steem sometimes suxx ;) but it´s still in beta
