Welcome to Steem4College! Come Watch Movies with Us

in #steemit6 years ago

In a grand experiment rooted in a massive delusion of grandeur, #Steem4College has been launched as a forum for students and teachers of any subject, in any location, to join together for no other reason than because the technology allows it to happen quickly and for free!

Please join our Discord server here.

When you join the server, please introduce your self and give us some idea of where you are located, whether you're a teacher or student, your area of interest, etc. From there, feel free to request a Channel for your institution. Just tell us a name and it will happen.

Aside from simply playing around with the various potential projects that an international forum can provide, @cstrimel will be encouraging his current class at Community College of Philadelphia to use the server as part of the course. The students are required to watch three films over the next few weeks, and will be discussion them as part of their process to write analysis papers about the films.

Here's the fun part

Feel free to watch the films on your own at the designated time, and join in a discussion on the Discord Server. It will be like watching a film in our own projection room, with friends from anywhere in the world, chatting about it, without having to worry about being shushed or booted!

@cstrimel is also encouraging his students to post their work to Steemit, as part of his overall attempt to teach students about the importance of self-promotion and self-confidence. Please consider upvoting students who participate in this project. Eventually we might actually be able to "pay" students for their hard work!

Our first film is:

The Social Network, and we will view it this Sunday, May 20, at 2:00 GMT (10:00 pm EST).

Future films will be:

and

If you are interested in any aspect of this project, please follow and join the server. Feel free to propose a side project, or simply dive in with your own class and set up an "assignment."
