Explanation of the Header Section of My Articles
Intended Audience: Everybody
Last Update: 2017-08-08
Utility: Opinion
In order to help you decide whether one of my Steemit stories is worth your time I will usually add the following information at the top:
Intended Audience: Bitcoin Traders
If a subject is specialized I may specify for whom it can be useful, e.g. "Windows 10 Users".
Last Update: 2017-07-31
The date when I last modified the text. Because I write about technical subjects that can become obsolete fairly quickly I wanted more precision than Steemit's "x days ago". Also, if I update an article it will be useful in present time again, even if it was originally written years ago.
The date is in ISO 8601 format, i.e. year-month-day, all three numeric.
Utility: Opinion
One of the definitions for the word "utility" is: "the quality of being useful, or the degree to which something is useful". I use these categories:
- Best Practice: I know of no better way to do it. If you deviate from this procedure you should have a good reason to do so (and please write a comment in this case!).
- Common Practice: Often done this way. Possibly there are better solutions, but no need to be ashamed if you choose this way.
- Working Solution: One way to do it that worked for me. I did not want to spend more time to research the subject and the solution is "good enough" for me.
- Opinion: Just my idea, could be brilliant or outright stupid. You will have to think for yourself and use your own judgment!
P.S: English is not my native tongue and I appreciate your feedback if you spot mistakes. But please don't point out differences between UK and USA English, it is not worth the trouble.
