STEEM Guide "Early Birds Get the Worm": True, But You're Better Off Growing a Worm Farm!

in #steemit6 years ago

Hello everyone.

It has been a while since I wrote a STEEM guide and so I felt like writting one today.

I've seen a lot of people arguing they got here late to the party... and that sounds like me when I first got in here 5 months ago.

However, it's not only the early birds who are getting the worm. I'm happy with the worms I've been getting, but mostly I knew that it is not all about getting in early... if you grow your worms yourself, then you're going to have a much better time than those birds who didn't wake up early.

Read on below if I sound cryptic...

The Early Bird Gets The Worm...

True!

There's no arguing that the guys who got in at the beggining of STEEM have it way better than us, but they had higher risks as well.

On the other hand, they are still reaping the rewards of being early, and we're now the birds who popped up later so there are no worms for us... at least not on the surface.

Some people choose to keep on flying to find their worm (they put close to no work and hope to grow) and they fail.

Some others dig the earth and get the juicy worms below (they work on their blogs everyday and wait for the results, they come but not fast).

...But, do you know what I did that pumped me up on this blockchain in my short 5 months of life?

...But Growing Your Own Worms Is Better!

...I grew my own worms!

What do I mean?

Well, my upvotes are now consistently around $15. Take a look at them, they are available below for all to see (my apologies if you're among the first as there's nothing much to see, but check any previous post of mine before that).

Those people upvoting me... most of them started doing so when their votes were worth 0.01-0.02... some 0.10... but they've been growing!

I created the Crypto Empire, I grew my community... but above all I MADE FRIENDSHIPS!

FRIENDS are where it is at at this blockchain!

You have to be willing to outreach... don't just dig your blog out in search of worms, go dig on your neighbors' plot.

Go there and comment, establish long lasting friendships and above all:

  • GROW YOUR WORMS.

Vote them up, go comment on their posts, give them advice, delegate to them, add value and MAKE THEM SUCCEED!

By making them succeed, you'll be growing the power of your audience, thus you'll end up getting those worms to vote for you.

It's the gift economy, and it's the trickle down economy and all of those variables that do wonders in this blockchain.

In Conclusion

Find who your audience is, and feed it!

Grow your worms so they can make a happy bird out of you!

This is inspiring for someone just starting like myself. Sometimes, I feel bummed when I spent awhile on a post researching and gathering my mind to just get a few cents or nothing. I was following someone who had a good following and realized his posts weren’t really well thought of. I got jealous when this person would just post something just to post and would still get like 30sbd. It was impressive and I decided to stop following them as I was not only jealous, but realized I was following that person for all the wrong reasons. Your posts are inspiring and worth it. Thanks 🙏

No probs! Also, that person was probably using bots... I also think about my content heavilly and put lots of effort into it and because I dont use bots never surpass $15-$17 this post being the exception because @fulltimegeek liked it.

But if you don't have someone with a high stake liking your post it's really hard to get the amounts you see those guys getting. They pay for it, we don't, that's the difference.

In the end of the day, my $15 are the result of people who really care, and theirs are bought even sometimes giving them monetary losses.... so not only I usually get more profit, I get the right kind of it... Opt out of bid-bots man...

Bots suck, don't use them.

You'll grow with time.... and remember, it's hard, I have 2300 followers and only get that average $15... don't be demoralized seeing high amounts - they are inflated by the poster's wallet and the greedy bidbots.

Basically, provide value to others. This works in any economy. Good words!

Wise words Justin!

Hi spritualmax,

I am growing my worms by conversing with you and other Steemians.

Good advice that I want act upon now....not tomorrow but now.

I saw you first a while back on Smartsteem as an advisor so, I have been following. I really like using Smartsteem which helped my blogs and posts.

Cheers man! Glad you're motivated on growing your audience... that's the key to pushing forward!

Stay on track and don't give up!

Thank you for your motivation.

Great advice man! Your totally right, make friends your starting with and support each other and grow together! It’s all about what you put in man, nothing ever comes easy.

Yeap! Look at us man, we've come far, we're growing up :D

Indeed Maxy and this was one of the answers that I gave when some that I cared about left Steemit and said that Steemit is unfriendly to Redfishes like me.

There have been people earlier than me that have lower reps and SP and not as engaged because maybe they have not found the right community nor set of people that they would want to be in their journey.

And there are people like you that came after me but your progress has been so fast and the amount of SP, network and rep of you just boggles the mind and yet what you say is true.

It is when you create a community and grow with people around you, helping them get stronger with each upvote, to guide them and see them succeed that it becomes more apparent what the secret sauce is to Steemit.

Grow your audience by growing those around you. I have to be thankful for you letting me in the Empire and I learned so much in there and had so many laughs as well.

I always count is as one of my homes where I can just kick back and relax but learn at same time.

I can't wait to see all of us as dolphins and maybe even whales sometime in the the future.

Whales is nearly impossible, mathematically speaking, but Dolphins... I can see that happen... heck if @underground can do it :P (kisses Undie)

Haha indeed Maxy! Although I am still not at the 1k mark but slowly getting there.

Let's race! @killvrill is your challenger :D

I completely agree. Networking is the most important factor here on SteemIt.
Just like you, I have made friends on here, and I’m getting to know new people every day. Most of them still have a low rep score and a low upvote - that’s what you get when you’re spending your time helping beginners to find their way on SteemIt. But I don’t mind, because many of them grow every day, just like I do. And their upvote value rises, just like mine.
So one day I will probably have a standard payout of $15 on my posts. I’m not in a hurry, I enjoy what I’m doing here. :0)

Yeah... I also themed my blog post around helping the new guys... I should have made a blog tailored to whales but I didnt knew better at the time :P

Unfortunately, worms on Steemite are so small. Some birds try so hard, but nothing happens ))) Because the birds are very small and grow long until they turn into a big eagle )

Yes but they do grow... even my slowest growing friends are reaching 60 rep right now.... growing alongside them has been very fun!

It's great, I hope that I too will manage to do this )

I'm a super slowly growing worm.... ^^ I don't mind and the only way to go is up.. Aja!

Yeap, tiny little worm with low appetite :P

Hahahhaha might get bigger in time. Hopefully! ^^

Hmm, I once read that in order to achieve success you should spend 33% of your time with the people above you, 33% with those at your level, and 33% with those below you.

From what I'm seeing on steemit, the rule of 33% rings true.

I have a different rule... if you're the smartest person in your group of friends, find new friends :D

That's funny but it has someone truth in it.
I'm currently reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, and one of his recommendations is to hire people smarter than you.

There's a lot you could from them in the process.

That's one of the best books in existence! Well done!

Nice analogy buddy. I haven't grown my worms the way you did - we all work in our own mysterious ways - but I like the digging and what I find lately is enough to feed this little birdy.

I feel it's all about planting the seeds, watering them, exposing them to plenty of sunshine - and at times, some shadow. With consistency and positivity, over time the worms will come and keep coming and they will start to taste better and better.

Enjoy your worms and keep feeding the hatchlings around you. I will make sure to do the same in my own way.

P.S. Don't miss my latest (Portugal) post, I believe you will like it ;>)

Ohhh... will check it out right now! :D
Thanks
