Just because u have a handful of Steemit Tokens does not make you an owner, not even the Devs are owners, we are just stake holders at best. @Ned could legally change our posts if he wanted to, legally, not morally.

Steemit belongs to the people who signed the papers.\

Google "Incorporated" . Owning a biz is ain't easy.

This is the law, American law, and Steemit is incorporated in USA u deal with their laws.

Anyways,....

Till i wake up be safe. Post what you like. Steemit is INC!!

@timcliff please save me from the hole i'm jumping into.

Am i way off? or just a little. I am crawling to bed.

need clarification.

Legally there is nothing stopping them (I'm pretty sure at least, I'm not a lawyer). Technically though, it is not really possible (explained below).

Steemit, Inc. cannot change the data in the blockchain, unless they have access to your private keys. They do not really have any super powers or backdoors into the blockchain that would allow them to manipulate the data.

About the only path for them to do this would be to create a hardfork with 17 of the 21 witnesses approving it. This would be technically possible, but it would not go undetected, and all of the exchanges and third party applications would have to pick up the HF in order to continue on. The chances of this happening are pretty much zero.

About the only thing that they can do is to change what actually gets rendered on Steemit.com, but all of the other sites (like busy and steemd) would still have access to the blockchain data. This is also unlikely, because anyone would be able to easily prove that they were tampering with the data.

Thank u. I wasn't able to say that and you said it so well.

What do you mean by change? No one can change the content you write unless they have access to your key.

OK.... good morning @acidyo based on Tim's reply I should have said...

Legally steemit CEO can, Morally he shouldn't and Technically he can't.

I wasn't far off. woo hoo

not true. that is a Steemit Myth. The owner could. >< sucks but he could. based on the chatter i have heard since i joined. and legally.
