Long Awaited ... Return ... to SteemIt!

in #steemit9 years ago

The time has arrived, I must thank several people here for their encouragement to return back here to SteemIt! Life has been hectic and many thing got in the way of staying involved.

Return to SteemIt!

There have been several changes that have taken place since I stopped posting at the end of January. Having not been active with keeping up on the updates to the platform I wont go there... anyway changes that have happened in my life over the last few months are as follows:

Changes

February

I spent the month of February dealing with major PTSD issues. I was having flashbacks that felt as if I really was back where it all started, Afghanistan. It has been many years since I was there, but being in an active combat zone, and not having the proper equipment provided really does affect you. I was deployed with the Army Infantry yet never given ammunition. I have other friends who also were there without ammo as well.

March

Then came March, the flashbacks had faded, my wife had surgery. It was a simple procedure and she was supposed to recover quickly, well needless to say that was not what happened. I spent the month with little or no sleep while I took care of my wife post surgery. Seemed the bleeding would just not stop like it was supposed to. We have several visits to the ER before they finally just kept her there, finally she recovered and is doing better.

April

April was spent stressed out in the living situation and looking for a job. I been out of work because of stress issues for almost 2 years and my wife has been helping me work on getting back on my feet, I don't feel like I'm quit ready to get back to working, but my stress is no longer as bad as it was that day I simply walked out of work not knowing what the plan would have been going forward. Positive development I did find a job that will be starting at the end of May.

May

May arrived things at first seemed brighter, being I had found a job. Unfortunately the family member we had been living with told us we had 2 weeks to move out. After 1 week we had made a plan, arranged with another family members to help us buy a mobile home. That fell through, due to things outside of our control. We then found a RV that needed some work, such as roof repairs. Being we had not time left we bought it and moved into it.
Right now, as bad as things have been, it does seem as though the problems are slowly fading away. First off, this RV park told us if we had waited another month, which had been the original plan, we would not have been able to have a place for the full winter. They are almost booked full of Snowbirds for this coming winter, so as bad as it seemed at the time of being rushed out the door, we managed to get everything set up in less than 2 weeks.

And the adventure begins

Here we are now, we bought a RV which does need a little work to fix it all up, moved into a nice RV park where, while I make the needed repairs we will be living in it. Now we are no longer living with family, and soon I will be starting a new job. Just hope that in the mean time we don't get to much rain, being that the sub-roof needs to be replaced, which I'm going to do myself.

Neither of us have ever owned a RV, I spent a few nights in one after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, since I was there working to help them recover. Also, a few nights when my brother was married. So, now my wife and I have a 33 foot RV. I have learned a lot in the last week, since we bought this RV. There are things that living in a house we never had to worry about, like if the water was safe to drink etc., now we also have the benefit that since we own the RV any repairs, or upgrades we do here are going to improve our quality of life. In the last year we spent living with family we helped in fixing things that were broken, such as replacing the sink faucets, and putting up a bedroom door, etc.

Glad you are back!
Steem on,
Mike

Thank you! It took a bit but I made it back!

I am pleased you are back, I stayed in touch lots because I was honestly concerned for you, like a ton.

Thanks for the message and the post man.

I love RV's but that will not surprise you I bet lol

Welcome back and my UV's are worth a lot more now! A lot of ours all are!

That was 14¢ or something there for ya LOL!

Say hi to your wife please.

I will let her know you said Hi!

As a kid always wanted my parents to get one, now it seems so unreal actually owning one. I'm surprised to see how peoples value here has grown and changed, one thing that mildly helped me was the voting bot. Was getting between 1 and 2 SP each week I was a way, so although I was not posting, I still was making small gains.

I noticed your bot still going, I usually assumed it was anyways, that was a smart move man!

Oh and a reminder..... this is weekend #3 of the

#SteemitCampfire

series, it runs all weekend long from Fri-Sun nite, every weekend on my page on ONE post.

I hope you will stop by, remind a few people w that # today to come too...... It is fun!!!
Reminder post is up every Friday afternoon, it is up now, then the main #SteemitCampfire post goes up to start it around 7 pm or so, EST Friday nites, and that is the post we gather at....

  • bring your food and a chair and blanket and hang out with us! It is a mix of all things fun and campfire related, you never know what will happen!

Nice you got the smores this week? I got plenty of coffee to last for a bit.

I thought someone else may have brought them.... we have a whaley type that likes to pop in and out with his mysterious ways...

@neoxian !!

Bahahahaha!

That is funny on many levels. You are such a blessing man.

Have a good day and hope to see you for your (Chai again sir) tea around the fire where your stories can entertain us.

You and @clayboyn!

@neoxian is pretty swell! One of my favorite "whaley types." I'll try to stop by tonight @barrydutton, but uh, things are fast coming to a head on the home front.

They do come and go at will, and seems as though the whales are not what they used to be!

Welcome back! I am so glad that things in your life are turning for the better. Way to go!!!

Your RV is your freedom. And you have a Hymer. That's a quality build. Congrats!

Your post was upvoted, resteemed and featured on Steemit Appreciation Friday No. 16 - thank you for contributing to the community.

Thank you, and this is a much different way of living than I have ever really done. But yes being it is a Motorhome and not just and RV it is definitely freedom.

Great to see you back here. I am sure you are looking forward to a few tranquil months ahead! Namaste!

Thank you I sure hope so. At least I know where I will be living for the next several months. More on that later!

Wow, I understand why you've been gone so long. You're in my prayers my friend.

Thank you, been rough, but things seem to be getting better finally!

Great to see you back. Let us know more about you RV repairs and adventure.

Thank you!
Will do, it is going to be an adventure for sure! Lots of things needing to be done. So there will be plenty of stories to go on about.

Good to see you back. An since you are new to RV living I would recommend that you go visit CheapRVliving on youtube. Good info there as well as you can see interviews with many of us that live the RV life.

Awesome, will check it out. Thank you for the suggestion! So far this seems like it is a lot better than living in a house!

Dont worry, things will surely be alright for you. Those experiences you had will help you to become stronger which I think you are today. Never think too much of the problem, let the problem think about itself.

Thank you! I think your right there, these experiences have definitely helped prepare me for today!

And even the day forward.

Glad you are back. I am sorry to hear about your troubles but glad your wife is okay and you found new work. You take all the time you need, we are here when you are. It's okay, one day our steem will be worth millions :p

That would be the day, Steem 1 million, I would be rich unless the dollar collapse at the same time!

I think if that happens enough places will take steem that you can just use that.
