Value/Influence of Steem Power?

Could anyone explain the math behind the voting system to me?
More specifically, what is the conversion rate of steem power to vote value?
ie. Say I have 1 steem power, what is an upvote from me worth? And how is this figure calculated?

    Have you read the whitepaper at steem.io? Do that and chew on it. The formula is a complicated quadratic that depends on many factors.
