Steemit Sunday Morning Discussions w/ @SirLunchTheHost. "Are We Really Social Butterflies here on Steemit?"
Hello Steemians,
I am @sirlunchthehost and I was inspired this Sunday Morning to try a new segment of Post dubbed, 'Sunday Morning Discussions w/SirLunchTheHost.
This will mark the first Post in this Social Experiment I am doing.
Feedback & Comments are always welcome.
Why did I make this Video?
-Its no surprise that Steemit.com is a breakthrough social platform just waiting for its chance to shine and prove its dominance within the genre, but even with the future looking bright with monetary gains as a bonus with posting and commenting how social are we really? As a whole the Steemit Community sticks together and attacks most problems head on with full force and unmatched cooperation, but again..How social are we really? We spend most of our time posting Original Content or Content we want others to view. This as always presents itself in various forms, Art,Music,Story,Photography,News and the list goes on, but how many times are we posting directly to another Steemit user? Quite often most of us would say and I would gladly agree, but any progressive mind would then think, "Whats after this?"
I spent a long time juggling this question, because on the surface it appears that we are Social Butterflies, but it may be that in reality we are still pioneering in this area, forging new paths based upon things we deem creative or new.
Okay Lets Cut the Crap, Right?
What if instead of commenting via typing, Steemians started commenting or responding via video comments?
( Of coarse this would only apply for the time being to users who posted a video, thus provoking a video response and that would then require people to take more time to upload that said video, so in theory it would be more work and your response time would be a little longer, but think of the connection. )
Its all about the Connection right?
If you can't connect to the internet, you can't use Steemit.
If you can't make a Connection with people on Steemit, you won't make Steem $$.
Simple, but here's the complicated part:
Commenting via Typing is sort of like having 56k dial up. At some point you will connect to the web, but the quality of that connection and the speed will be less than par.
Commenting via Video is like upgrading to DSL or Cable internet. Its taking the connection and making it stronger and better.
This applies to Humans in general.
The Better the Connection, The Happier we are.
In this the Conclusion?
Yes, in conclusion I feel that before we experience an influx in users and or coming out of beta stage we should explore,master, and completely understand STEEMITs social boundaries. That way in the future we avoid the fate of other social media platforms.

Do you guys see yourselves developing an official ios/android app down the road? Something official and not developed by a 3rd party like eSteem? I know you are busy with other things but that would be neat in the future. Im really looking forward to the implementation of privacy in this platform as well (confidential balances/transactions). Steem/SBD ATM would be cool down the road in the future ... I hope we see that one day from 3rd party services like BTC has.

@ned would zero knowledge transfers as well as ring ct be possible to implement? or would it have to be one vs the other?
possible but challenging -- alternatively, we've identified a solution that obscures amounts rather than amounts_and_sender_and_receiver --- which covers the bases in terms of functional privacy without creating hoops to jump through. no promises for whether it's in the roadmap

When direct video upload support comes to Steemit, will be a great day. Also when SteemQ launches it will be much easier to share content via video on the Steem network.
steemq is dead, only youtube can host videos, took youtube many years of losing money on video hosting to get to where it is now, youtube is he only way
Agreed! I'm waiting for the day we revoltionize commenting and such. I will be known as a Pioneer i hope, not in the coding aspect but the social creation aspect. Thanks for taking a look!

Interesting concept ... some people would likely draw immediately to doing everything via video. Personally, I rarely look at videos in a post and have never been inclined to making one. Just personal preference. That may change in time.

I quote you because i believe you captured the essence of Steemit Video Culture at this moment. The vast majority are not inclined to make Video Post, which indeed is a personal preference,but with time may change their mind. Which makes Steemit the best place for social experiments and interactions because most if not all of us have some sort of open mind like you do. What we are waiting for is the response it receives from its Pioneers and audience. I'm sure if this concept is perceived well it will open up the dialogue about Steemit Video Culture and so on. So thank you for expressing your opinion and showing a different perspective.
Video is a great option for people who don't really like to put fingers to keyboards... and those who do put fingers to keyboards often appreciate video.
