Yes make note of that as it's still a trap used to this day to trick people into their peril, and no you can't actually fight the dragon as a boss ingame.
it strange to have big dragon and you can't fight with it
Well the big dragon on the gate does have it's usage, there kind of is a point to having him in-game.
