Before Joining Steem, Here’s What My Picky Brain Made Me Do!

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Have you ever done something in your life that you didn’t think about? You simply did it.

You took action. Just like that.

Been there?

Perhaps you walked out of your house.

Or called your friend.

Maybe bought something the moment you saw it the first time?

Or, like me, without thinking, you joined Steem?

Truth: Our Unconscious Mind Has Already Decided

Before we can act, our brain has already made the decision.

The decision is clear. All there is left is action.

When you think about it, this is how our brain always works. To pick a glass of water, to take that action, your brain must say to you:

"Go and pick that glass of water."

Only then our hand moves, you know? And it’s beautiful, isn’t it?

With that said, before joining Steem:

Here’s what my brain told me:

1. "Bro, look at the front page"

I didn’t know what Steem was all about until last week. I was Googling an image of a WWE superstar and landed here.

After reading the article, my brain made me check the front page.

2. "What are these buttons?"

On the frontpage, there were topics and tags. I clicked on what I like the most:

Then, of course, I clicked on every button possible - from hot to trending and read anything that was interesting to my brain.

3. "Go Now, See If Steemit Is Popular!"

The best way to do that?

Simply check Twitter.

Steemit has 13k followers on Twitter. It's a great feeling to know the account is active and we get to see regular updates - with quality posts published.

At this point, my brain was activated!

4. "Bro, There's MONEY Here!"

Yeah, after every post, there was a dollar sign.

It always gets us human curious, isn't it?

I have to admit: I still don't know how the money is distributed.

My brain is still processing this information.

All I know is this:

The more I engage, the better it is.

And hey, I always liked to connect and share things online.

And if I make money along the way? It's a win-win, isn't it?

5. "Looks Legit! Sign Up Now!"

This was fairly obvious.

Having quickly seen all these things, and to know that signing up to Steem is free...

My brain told me to sign up quickly.

And so here I am...

Writing articles, sharing, learning, upvoting, and following people.

It's been only a few days, yet the JOY is real. :)

Thanks to everyone here. I feel like I found a good place to hang around. Really appreciate it! :)

Sort:

Looks legit or seems legit? Not sure if legit. Eye Squint :) it's a solid platform with a dedicated user base. Good time to join too.

Haha!

I asked my brain again:

It says: "SEEMS LEGIT BRO!" :)

Definitely a good time to join!

Having fun, you know! :)

Yeah, I love Steemit too! Only been here a few weeks but it is gentler on the nerves than facebook or twitter. No pressure just chillin. Welcome!

Yep!

CHILLING is the answer.

I am also chilling now. No more social media networking sites for me.

Before we can act, our brain has already made the decision.

The decision is clear. All there is left is action.

Even if the subconscious have "decided", you still have to choose to carry through with it. Choice remains choice, even in a "determinist" world so to speak. =)

"Even if you choose not to choose, you still have made a choice"

Nice talking to you and hope to see you around

You are right.

I am steering towards making a choice.

The ability to not chose is a choice in itself, although not the best choice there is, right? Especially in this context! :)

Precisely my friend ^

Same here lol

Human brain is something, isn't it? Ha!

Thanks for dropping by!

Have a great day!
