Why waste time on Facebook when you can spend it wisely on Steemit

How many hours a day do you spend on Facebook? Where do you post all your whacky family photos, those incredible nature pics that you very carefully edit on various apps? And how about those funny videos from your phone? What about all the comments on your friends' posts? Or even a stranger's post on a strange unrelated topic? What do you get out of spending so much time and effort on Facebook? I think it's time to make Facebook accountable as you and I are spending far too much of our valuable time to make someone else rich.

I don't think making Facebook accountable means reforming Facebook. No, they've sold out. And Mark Zuckerberg is no saint or Gandhi. We all like his casual attitude in life. But behind that cotton Tshirt and big wide grin lies a soul that's sold out. We like simplicity in leaders and that's probably what has been Zuckerberg's biggest sales pitch and his success.

Think about it: apart from making Mark Zuckerberg and his shareholders wealthy, you aren't gaining anything by sacrificing YOUR TIME and energy on Facebook. I've started sincerely making efforts to reduce my time on Facebook. In many ways Facebook is undermining our efforts. It's time to WEAN away from it.

Why? Is it because STEEMIT is paying us and Facebook is not. No, that's not the only reason why I would flee Facebook. Some of the reason why one should flee Facebook is because democracy is in danger when the flow of content is just with one business. Imagine if in the nineteenth century if all the printing press was controlled by one press and if the owner of the press and his cronies had a say in what you get to read and who they get to publish. Well isn't that what's happening now? How did we let this build up to such a monumental disaster? Let's excuse ourselves for the wrongs of the past as we did not have an alternative. Each one of us have contributed to this evil. But can we let this slip again? DEFINITELY NOT

The way out is we need more platforms like STEEMIT to emerge to fragment the flow of information and make it more democratic. Facebook is an oligarch and should be diluted. Press freedom for our generation means challenging Facebook and making information more democratic.

I strongly feel that we have a responsibility to make STEEMIT work. It's a revolution against Facebook that's taken over our lives in many ways.

I'm not dreaming and I don't think Facebook will completely be overthrown. But we can reduce its impact and challenge its might by making STEEMIT popular.
Let's start now people! Let's Steemit
