An eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi also kown as Vinyak Chaturthi is a fevsital to celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesha.
It is 10 days festival - starting with placing Ganesha murti privately in home or publicly (in pandals) and on the 10th day after start, the idol(Murti) is carried and immersed in nearby water bodies.
The festival is celebrated all over the India especially in Mumbai, however the festival along with blessings of Ganesha also bring environmental pollution. I don't know about Lord Ganesha but it do affect human beings and environment. Mumbai alone, immerse around 150,000 statues annually.
So should we not celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi ???
Or we should but in a eco-friendly manner!! Wow
Good news- As per exporters of Ganesh Murtis - Alot of people are demanding for Eco-friendly murtis and for last few years the demand has shown impressing results. (Eco-friendly murtis are easily available on amazon)
Also people are coming up with innovative ideas like - artificial ponds trend, use of maida, salt, oil to make maurti, etc.
This year I am celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with an Eco-friendly homemade Ganesh Murtis , though I missed using natural colors like Turmeric, kumkum, kersar etc , which I will be using next year for sure. #reduce_pollution
