You said: You as the author gets 50% and the other 50% goes to the curators. That is incorrect. Beginning back on July 4th, authors get a minimum of 75%. Authors will also get some of the curation award depending on who upvoted and how soon after the post was created that they upvoted.

You also said: You could get $20 just by upvoting my post. While true, that is not to be expected, nor even possible, if the upvote is by someone with very little steam power. Yes, if you have a million dollars worth of steam power, you could easily make $20 by upvoting. However, if you're brand new to the platform, you might make a fraction of a penny by upvoting your post at the right time.
