Religion on Steemit... but why ?

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I am surprised to see sometimes very religious posts on Steemit which is a very modern platform ...

For me (but I may be wrong), religion is linked to a certain obscurantism: believe in a lot of things without evidence (the "faith"), having ideas arrested for centuries, thinking that the universe is 3000 years old, stigmatization of homosexuals, etc ....

In short, for me, modernity and religion are antagonists

Finally, are you religious? If so, what attitude do you have towards the current proven data of science (age of the universe, our genetical links with monkeys, evolution, etc ...)

I am not fond of religion because I was in the mormon church until I figured out it is a cult founded by a man who had polyandrous wives (married other men's wives while they were still married to the first husband), who was a con man that had peepstones and was a freemason. Total fraud, they brainwash you, lie to you ,and take your money and time. Most religions are tied to freemasonry, and are quite evil in reality. Religions have caused a lot of molestations, wars and evil in the name of a god that doesn't exist. They are really just corporations (LDS.INC). It's quite disturbing when you know the truth about it. Church buildings give me the chills.

I totally disagree. Sure, there are some very dated ways to viewing and practicing religion. As far as believing in a deity, I personally feel that advances in science have proven that this world was created by an intelligent higher power. To look at things such as DNA or a cell and say it evolved on its own is nothing short of a mental disorder.
