BITCOIN TO STEEM TRANSFER --- SEEMS LESS IN USD VALUE?????
Can someone please explain to me,
why when I transfer $50 USD worth of btc into Steem Power (in this instance)
only translates to about $23 USD worth?
Previously I had about $17 USD worth before the above transfer.
Does 15 Steem Power translate to $50 USD? why would it not indicate so in the value worth?
My previous Steem input I am finding has been roughly halved....
I realize that I am a bit late to the party, but Please someone explain this to me...
Yes. Steem power is denominated in steem, not dollars. 1 steem is trading at around 3.25 (last time i looked).
At that rate, your $50 buys you about 50/3=15.3 steem.
@sigmajin but this should still translate to $50 in the value beneath, no? I do see your point though, and it does clear things up a bit...
you mean in the estimated value part where it says 40.53? Yeah, that s never been accurate for me either... im not sure how theyre coming up with that number, but it doesn't really effect the value of your steem... the actual value, atm should be around 28 steem x 3.2=$89... they do say its an estimate though

OK, found out how they get that number... the estimated value represents your steem multiplied by a rolling 7 day average, not the current steem price. but its just an estimate, so the fact that its wrong really has no effect on the value of your assets
I have the same questions and still cant figure all of this out.
@silvano22 This is my general understanding, using pie as an analogy https://steemit.com/steem/@screenplaydan/the-a-ha-moment-of-differences-between-steem-steem-power-usd
but how the value is determined, how steem is distributed, all of that is a mystery, yet. I will do more research using steemit as google keyword and reply with my findings tomorrow
Very interesting! I like it! Good luck to you!
The 'Estimated Value' is calculated based upon a moving average of the market price of STEEM. Its' price has increased a lot over the last week, and so the value calculated is less than actual value. Don't worry, the value is there, it's just not being calculated as you'd expect.
