Steemit followers are good but Steemit friends are better
Friends rather than followers
I don't know about you, but when I joined Steemit I was here for the money, I was going to make enough to give up work and spend the rest of my life on an island in the sun writing pithy and interesting articles for loads of money. Then something unexpected happened
I started to actually care about some of the people that I had started to follow. I've seen people blossom and grow here, there are some very good people here in Steemit and I have actually grown to care for them. I look forward to their posts and enjoying their opinions. I actually want to upvote and resteem and hope that they get on.
Some people have 4000 followers but no friends
I have seen a few people hitting the 4000 followers milestone and it amazes me that their milestone post makes less than a dollar and the Steemians doesn't think that there is anything wrong! I've posted about this before but numbers mean NOTHING I could go out on the street this morning and say hello to a thousand people and none of then would remember my name.
There is still money to be made here
Every so often I see one of my friends get into double digits and very occasionally I see a triple figure post and I am genuinely delighted for them.
Will I ever get my Island
I don't think that I'll be posting from that Island anytime soon but I'm happy reading some really interesting posts and meeting some quite amazing people.
This footer is one of the best things that I have ever seen, thanks to @ryivhnn for his creativity and generosity in giving me this, please follow him!
I do love your footer, it is awesome!
And I agree on the followers Vs friends. Ridiculous numbers of followers don't mean much if there is little or no interaction
Thanks must admit that it is great :-)
You are actually one of the few people that might be able to manage it, my next post of on follower/friend engagement and you Mr S are a prime example of someone that makes it look effortless :-)
Haha, effortless indeed. I actually wish I could spend more time engaging but heck you know what it's like with this pesky thing called real life.
I think you are doing a fine job on here mate, I can see you doing well if you stick at it!
Upgoated, Steemit friend!
Many thanks my friend :-) Hope the search is going okay.
Had two interviews today, aced one, the other felt a bit awkward, and I'm not too confident about that one. The first one has already referenced checked, but the role does not pay quite enough without some significant lifestyle changes.
I'm keeping my options open. :)
Good luck with it, my only advice would be to try and hold on for an position that pays what you are worth. I made that same mistake a while ago and have kind of suffered financially for a while, it took a few years to get my salary back to where it should be.
Good luck and if you do get offered through job ask for more, remember they want you and don't really want to go through the hiring process again, so ask for a higher rate!
Your posts are so true, I couldn't have worded this better myself :)
As always, your very kind words are really appreciate :-)
@scottish01: Well, you have me now. So That makes it One better. :) keep steeming.
Thank you, you have some interesting posts and I'll be checking them out later today, think I need to follow an exercise regime and you my friend have became a friend at a perfect time :-)
This is an insightful post. As a newbie, even though I could expect to live off this, I'm pretty sure that nothing is ever as easy as it sounds. And I have low expectations, the most reasonable is that I will never earn any real money from this at all. But the Steemit project in itself is so interesting, profit becomes almost dispensible.
Welcome to Steemit, you will have a great time here. Just remember not to follow everyone who comes into your sphere, just follow people who interest and sometimes challenge you. Concentrate on building the nucleus of a community...it should be about quality and not quantity. It is hard to hear one voice in a large crowd :-)
meep
I feel pretty much the same way about the numbers and don't bother about them really. Did notice the same discrepancy but then again if everyone is following 200 plus people it's hard to give everyone upvotes! 😅
I agree and it is good to find people of the same mind, I'm sure that it sounds kinda naive but it really is just about making connections and friendships.
Very nicely said... we can read here and make friends too, that's why I joined Steemit, and if we're lucky 🍀 we can make money 💰 too. 🔝
I actually never expected to make a living from this platform, but here I am after my first busy month with $4.07 in my wallet. Who said miracles don’t happen? ;-)
This reply wasn't meant for you @arekwolf
Indeed, the community around here seems to be more interesting and fun than the communities on the other platforms I’ve seen.
I vaguely suspected as much.
@arekwolf (disclaimer - the following post should be read as a compliment :-)
Of all of my Steemit friends I honestly think that with your personality you will have no problem making loads of friends and hopefully lots of money from your 'battlestar gallactica' of fantasy...anyone reading this post should check it out and your cool posts :-)
Thanks, @scottish01, for your kind opinion and the free advert, ha ha. In any case, what’ll happen will happen...
