Question about Author reward. Steem Dollars, Steem Power in practice.

in #steemit8 years ago

So theoretically (from what I read on the white paper and various Steemit posts):

  • 75% of the post's payout goes to the author, 25% to curators;
  • Then that 75% is split in half (50% for Steem Dollars, 50% for Steem Power);

Let's take as an example one of my recent posts:
https://steemd.com/steemit/@saulius/steemups-0-9-1-discover-the-most-recent-posts-that-will-be-trending-on-steemit-in-the-future

total_payout_value 0.846 SBD
curator_payout_value 0.230 SBD

Let's take a look at Author rewards log on my profile:

Author reward of 0.422 SD and 0.199 STEEM POWER for saulius/steemups-0-9-1-discover-the-most-recent-posts-that-will-be-trending-on-steemit-in-the-future

Now questions bothering me:

1.Shouldn't both sides be equal?
0.846 SBD(Total Post Payout) - 0230 SBD (Curator Rewards) = 0.422 SD + 0.199 SP (Author Reward)

2. Shouldn't Author reward be split to 50%/50%
Now it's - 0.422/0.199 or 68%/32%

I simply can't get my head around the formula and real numbers. What am I missing here, guys?

Sort:

Steempower is not at the same rate as Steem Backed Dollar. Steempower is a fictional number which represents the amount of 'vests' you gained. Steem is currently worth more than 1 SBD -> check the http://steemit.com/market to see market price. The SP price which steemit uses is an average of 7 days price fluctuations.

Dummy me. That makes total sense. So the first formula should be

0.846 SBD(Total Post Payout) = 0.422 SD + 0.199 SP (Author Reward)?

BTW, thanks for adding Steemups and Steemians on Steemtools, buddy!
