Wrong Approach; Post-Promotion Channel More Active Than General Chat
Hello everyone
@samiwhyte here.
You cannot force character on any one, you can only teach and show them the way. It's been stressed over and over in different blogs by different authors that Steemit is a social platform, not a place where you drop content and log off. I have come to learn by experience, that on steemit, interaction pays. I have had people visit my posts, drop comments, upvotes and even follow, simply by me interacting in their blogs or chat channels.
In other to correct this mistake, some decided to be social by joining some platform such as discord and steemit.chat where most interaction here take place outside the comment session. But being on these medium is just the first step to interaction. Going to the pool doesn't get you wet, it is diving into the river that gets you wet. You must do what is being done and do it the right way.
Every channel has their own rules, some channels ask you to comment or upvote or both on others posts before you drop your link. This is just a pointer to what you should be doing. But rather, we play by the rules and don't get our character adjusted. We simple upvote/comment on the required number of posts, then proceed to drop ours and log off only to resume to repeat the routine.
If we must must succeed on steemit, we must change our approach, we must be willing to sacrifice that time to build interaction. I don't need to visit post promotion channel to see post from my followers, it appears automatically on my feed. Our focus should not be on promoting our post, rather it should be on growing our followers. General chat is more important than post promotion, you get to meet people, share ideas, make friends and grow your followers there. Rather than being in 100 channels where you promote your post on post promotion, you can be on few where you are active and growing your followers. This will eventually payoff.
I'm @samiwhyte

You have just pumped sense in me. Thanks so much @samiwhyte. With this tip and wisdom learnt. Am going to change the strategy. Am now embarking on More of interactions and growing my followers.
good post!
I fear the system may be setup to encourage that sort of thing ... if you take a look at some of those raking in the most rewards, they are the ones guilty of close-to-zero engagement. Where there is some, it is some banal comment on another crappost on shittoast. The reason is that there are those who congregate, parasitic-like around the host in the hope of some crumbs falling their way. the host continues having made an investment, reaping from that situation.
A sensible article by @samiwhyte.
My favourite line:
"Going to the pool doesn't get you wet, it is diving into the river that gets you wet"
Well, I'm new here and still don't know how things work. However, i know one thing for sure; interaction pays. It creates a bond that can't be scrapped off quickly. Many of the posts trending with insane rewards were boosted by promotion and those bloggers don't interact so well. So if you don't have some SBDs to trade for your post, better buckle down and build your own empire with good interaction.
You may not have a good SP to make a significant upvote on people's posts but leaving good comments that contribute to posts is a great way to interact.
I just hope I'm right with this
