RE: My First Bad Experience with Steemit

in #steemit8 years ago

I have read all the comments here to this post and feel compelled to add my reaction and opinions to what has been posted already.
It is most interesting to look at the posts from an analytical point of view.
First, there are way too many people who see this as an entertaining piece rather than a totally unacceptable event that should not exist on the platform. Yes, it is supposed to be censorship free, however, that should not be used as an excuse for extreme abuse and harassment.
Second, we have two people here who have clearly demonstrated through their posts over time that they are reasonable, mature, and personable individuals so why the comments suggesting that this is a case of "he said, she said"?
There should not be any question about that even if all one has as evidence is the information put forward in this post.
Third, in my opinion, this is definitely both a Steemit issue AND an incident of abuse and harassment that must be taken seriously and acted upon in a decisive and constructive manner.
This is not a "problem for Dan to deal with". It is a problem that falls squarely on the shoulders of all who are a part of the community and it is our aggregate responsibility to condemn unacceptable behavior in no uncertain terms and demonstrate the fact that abuse and harassment on the Steemit platform should and will not be tolerated.
Regardless of how incredible the technology, innovative infrastructure, and financial potential Steemit provides, the whole project will fail miserably if the community does not take concrete and immediate steps to deal with and prevent abuse and harassment on the platform.

I'm glad to see some common sense here. :)

Dan is the 'moral' 'leader' of this community, but instead of taking action and protect the women from harassment, he writes a 2.000 word long excuses to pretend as if allowing women to be harassed is someway moral ... of course he has a responsibility, but ... he's hiding!

Im not a woman hater here, but lets stop putting woman in here as though it is worse to do these things to them as opposed to the other individuals who are not women and are likely also struggling with similar issues.

We should care about how everyone is treated or not at all. Omitting all but one demographic does nothing to help this platform or the people who rely on it. Just my 2 cents.

what do you think could be done without initiating force? And, in the blockchain, how would you initiate that force?

dandy dan should have downvoted fyrstikken's posts, but he didn't ... dandy dan is a coward and a hypocrite

What do you propose? Other than warning people about bad users, what are you going to do?
