Steem: A Spammers paradise?

in #steemit8 years ago

So I've been doing my part to curate and find posts that I think are good personally, and I avidly check the new category.

I mean it's the easiest way to find varying topics about things we normally wouldn't see, learn about or hear about. That being said I've been noticing recently blatant reposts of the same topic, in the same category. Sadly only hours apart, the desire for money and I guess a belief that if at first a whale doesn't make you succeed try and try again!

I also notice that there isn't alot of flagging of these posts, and I don't believe it's because people don't notice it, but the fear of using up all of their voting power and being unable to earn anything from their hard work elsewhere.

Which is highly unfortunate, I know personally I don't want to sift through the same posts and then maybe find one that is unique and new and because I flagged all the other posts be unable to show my interest in the real deal.

• So how do we fix this?
The only real way is if flagging doesn't cost us voting power, however it also means that a group of trolls can then successfully kill a real post.

•So if free flagging isn't an option what is?
My thought is that if a post is legitimately flagged your voting power should be restored, what a good number for that would be I have no idea. Alternatively reducing how much of your voting power is used for flagging and having a transparent view of your voting power at any given moment.

•Lets keep steemit great•

And let's seriously stop this bleep I edited out the account name but they posted that same post not too long ago and several other posts 2-3 times each.

Keep it clean and stay classy my friends.

Wow i caught some people yesterday and flagged them. One person even used my post.

That's disheartening, I was to some extent hoping that they were creating their own content and then spamming it, but stealing other users created content is a really bad sign of how steemit will be misused and abused in the future.

I guess we will see the rise of successful long lost relatives who also happen to be the king of Nigeria, at the rate things are going.

Most likely somewhere, where they have electricity 24/7 like europe.

I wonder if Ned and Dan have an ETA for a spam prevention bot or intend to leave that to the community since the bots could take away successful curators jobs.
