Last night I was served a google autofill that seems odd...

Before I say anything else; notice the search volume spike this week in "Steemit Price" compared to "Steemit Pizzagate".

This is my first week on steem. I've been apart of the BTC community since 2013, a trader sent me Steemit after the market cap jumped into one of the top ten alts... so as you can imagine I've been googling it a lot and digging around the internet about it. "Steemit Price" has been all over trading and crypto sites with that market cap spike last week so that makes sense for it to autofill especially with my search history - but Pizzagate? That's one wormhole I don't fuck with.

-------------

To continue where we started - last night I was up late, alone, and very stoned on a Friday night trying to type "Steemit" into google for any news feed updates (looking for anything that would indicate a price movement ;). I didn't finish typing it out in-between whatever other thought I was having and noticed that "Steemit Pizzagate" was served above "Steemit Price".

Pizzagate is something I don't spend time on - weather its real or not it doesn't matter in this context. What does matter is that Pedophila is one of the last remaining complete Taboo's in first world societies. It seems too easy for any with a lot of money for google ad word dollars on either side of the fence to serve this "taboo" around the first experience with finding a new site or idea: the process of typing it into google.

This is similar to the early 2000's when porn domain owners would buy domains similar to "Disney" like "Dsney". People miss typing and landing on their site moves them up the search rank and bonus huge 2000's news "the web is for porn!" on every news station in America. This made some Porn sites huge, the Internet sound like a darker and darker place, and gave the News Stations another great story to keep their ratings up for the time being.

Further explanation of the autofill anomaly: as you enter characters into google those next character suggestions can be paid ad grabs and sponsored spots. Somebody has to be paying for that because the organic search volume doesn't support "Steemit Pizzagate" being in between "Steemit App" and "Steemit Price" which has huge organic volume. This is an important comparison because organic volume of a keyword or phrase determines the price of those ad words in relation to the keyword.

After clicking through "Steemit Pizzagate" there was a decent amount of articles tagged. Reading as many as I could handle I learned most of the articles we're followed up by comments questioning the author or "bot" to show some proof that this isn't spam. Most of the conversations in the comments further prove it is a spam bot in the process of trying to be funny or ironic about how to prove who they are real. Pretty amazing to see the Steemit community working to fend itself off from "distraction news" and keep on building the future without them.

My last piece of evidence:
"Steemit Price" and "Steemit App" have a very similar search volume. Shouldn't "Steemit Pizzagate" show the same trend if it was enough real organic volume to serve that in-between those two other keywords?

If your interested in context of why I believe this is somebody funding or google intentionally serving this:

I've worked as a "content creator" (whatever that means) for large brands giving them media to post on Facebook and Instagram for my entire career. The amount of money and information I've seen flow through algorithmic targeted "campaigns" (people) scares me. I used to geeked out when I saw something I exported and sent to a brand a 2 AM Thursday/Friday morning and noticed that content served to my friends devices later that Friday night. It took me some time to realize that it wasn't because they we're previously on the site of that company I worked for or signed up for their email list... It was really me telling them about the whole experience of making that ad and me saying that brand name over and over near his or her phone or worse over the phone earlier that day. Its harder to prove how much audio is collected right now but over time I've become more and more aware of what I am served based on my actions and words. Specifically after diving in to Bitcoin and of more recently Steemit this past week and felt this is something I needed to share here.

How much it would cost to keep "Steemit Pizzagate" more popular than EVERY OTHER TAG ON STEEMIT?!!? After seeing what a small "start up" company will spend I can't imagine the fire hose of cash if you really wanted to tarnish a competitor to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, or Youtube. It wouldn't take much for some people/organizations and its more than prime time for somebody to do so while this is still so new.

If you think this happened just because of my IP address and I've made the entire thing up - here is a screen shot from one of my friends computer that had the same experience. We live states apart and as you can tell he is into car shit, I am not, for further proof this happened to more than just myself.
