INTRODUCTION

Last December 17, 2017, it was Sunday. A day worth to remember. A day which the event we called “ Gift Giving Day ” was held. The event was organized by the leading Steemit Community here in Cebu, the @steemph.cebu. The event was held at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Mandaue and we have our meeting place at Mandaue City Hall. However I look at it, I can say that it was very well-planned and everything has been prepared according to what has been planned thus, it turned out to be a successful one. There are happenings that was unexpected however, it was not a negative one. I can still say that “ It was indeed worthy to remember and whenever I remember those happenings a smile on my face cannot be prevented. ”

The events aims to inspire and transform the lives of Filipino families thru Gift Giving. The event was aiming to provide each and every attending families with these Christmas Presents:

• 10 Kilograms of Rice
• Spaghetti and Fruit Salad
• Daily needs (Canned Goods, Noodles, Biscuits, Pancit canton, Shampoos, Soaps, etc.)
• Financial Aid (Php 700 worth of Cash)

No registration fees and no single peso from our pocket needed for the event. It was all funded by Steemit thru @steemph.cebu as our communal account.

For the Dinner

• Packed Dinner (2 Lumpia, 1 Chicken and Rice) - Cooked by @queenjventurer's mother
• Macaroni Salad
• Softdrinks (Coke) and Bottled Water

THE PREPARATION

The event will be expected to start at exactly 6:00 in the evening. So we, the volunteers of the said event is expected to be at the venue before the scheduled time. Since then, we came at the said venue the time after lunch.

Since, the volunteers are already in the venue, the preparation has immediately been started. The tasks for preparation has been divided to each and every one who are already in the venue. Even those volunteers who are still on their way to the venue managed to help in the preparation by communicating and asking what they can do to make the preparation faster, more presentable, accommodating and fun.

As a preparation, the over-all designing of the event venue and/or stage and arranging the chairs, tables, sound system, gifts, etc. has been done. Also, the number of gifts, foods, drinks and prices to be given to those attending families was being finalized and was ensured to be more than enough for the attendees of the event. Everyone did help a lot on the said event preparation.

It just made me happy and at the same time I enjoyed and had fun since I was able to join the team in preparing the necessary things for the success of the event. Even though I, myself wasn’t able to come as early as the others and I am not yet acquainted with each and everyone in the venue ( since I wasn’t able to attend the last event held by @steemph.cebu before the said event ) but still, I was able to build a harmonious relationship and freely communicated with the other volunteers.

THE OPENING AND DURING THE EVENT

On the said event, many things had happened. Every moment shared by each and everyone on that place and on that span of time can be considered as a treasure. Those smiles, laughte and bondings of each of the attending families and by the Steemian volunteers (of course) are heart warming and worth remembering. Memories that are once in a lifetime but can never be easily forgotten. It was all worthy and exceptional even though its just for a short period of time.

Before the event had truly started and since the preparation also has been all done, we, the Steemian volunteers guided our dearest attendees for the event inside the venue. And then when our dearest attendess are already inside, the event has immediately been started.

During the event, the very first thing that has been done was introduction of our guest emcees Miss Dian and Sir Gendolf as well as our event maker and also a steemph core leader @jassennessaj or @steemph.cebu. After the introduction, the main objective of the event has been initiated. First, the games had been and giving of prices to the winners. Basically, since its a gift giving and since we have a goal to make them happy and have an early Merry Chistmas, there are no losers at all. Everyone had given the chance or opportunity to join the fun and excitement brought by the games and prices that has been prepared.

Next was the giving of gifts to each and every family who attended the Gift Giving Day. The families are called one by one. Everytime the family was being called, that's also the time that the gifts will be given to them. The gifts had reached for about 12 families. Most of the members in each family are children that's what makes the happenings on the event more fun, enjoy and hyper. The children are so talented and confident with their talents, skills and knowledge to the point that they had participated on the event. I can say that they really have the guts even though they are still on that range of age. Actually, their parents too showed what they've got. They had joined the event activities together with their hyper kids. Basically, the event turned out to be like " we are the ones who are having a carolling session not for ourselves but for those less fortunate families " :)

After the games and giving of the gifts and prices, the most awaited time had come, hehe.. DINNER TIME !!! ^_^ During dinner time, each and every attendee on the event had given the foods and drinks. In fact, the foods and drinks is more than enough for the attendees as well as the @steemph.cebu volunteers :) Dinner time turnes out to be like a fiesta on a specific barangay !( lol... xD ) Anyways, I would just like to give thanks and credits to @jaderpogi, @philiparniebinag and @mikekenlytungal for getting the softdrinks together with me. And also to congratulate @steemph.cebu for the SUCCESS OF THE GIFT-GIVING DAY and for those Steemians who are on the list below and even those who wasn't able to have an attendance but have been able to attend on the Gift Giving Day. :)

CLOSING REMARKS

Every program or event has its beginning but also, it has its own ending. So, as part of our ending ceremony, we the Steemian Volunteers of Steemit Philippines Cebu made a closing remarks. The said closing remarks is not just an ordinary closing remarks in which the emcee will just end the program or event by just saying “ Goodbye everyone! Hope you had fun on the event! ” but rather we made something special. With the lights turned off and with candles lighted within our hands and with a background music of “ Star Ng Pasko, the ABS-CBN Station ID ”, we, SteemPH Volunteers formed a heart on the floor thru the said candles from our hands. A heart which symbolizes the heart of Steemit Philippines Cebu. A heart which gives love, care and hope to those who are unfortunate. A heart which says " With Steemit, together we will grow and together we will succeed ".
