Can Someone Explain To Me What's The Point Of Vote Bots?

in #steemit8 years ago

OK, maybe I am missing something.

You come to this platform. You start producing content. You get some engagement, but nothing serious. You want more, so you keep writing. You may earn a couple of cents here and there.

You're getting frustrated. You take a look at the trending posts and you realize that they're mostly garbage. Yet, they make $100 dollars.

"How's this happening", you ask.

You check their votes. " +whalevotescam6969" or some shit like that. You realize that 200 out of the 200,1 dollars are from this bot that THEY paid.

After 7 days, you get back $150 and the rest are delegated to the curators. You're actually losing money. Sure, your posts are visible right now, but let's not kid ourselves, you don't give a fuck about them you just want that green money greedy bastard.

Unless your margins are more than 10% what's the reason of using vote bots?

You get exposure, maybe create some sort of audience. But on steemit the audience is filled with "yes-men" circle jerks that are looking to collect pennies. So, you simply move your audience out of here, maybe on your email list.

But what are you going to do with them? Sell them some shit? Some guides to earn money from Steemit perhaps...

Miserable fucks. You know who you are. You brag about your mega sucess on Steemit, but you are on of those coaches who coach people to coach.

And these sad cunts go ahead and buy you low level ebook, with the $5 Fiverr cover and they follow your advice.

  1. Buy votes
  2. Buy votes
  3. Buy votes
  4. Buy votes
    .....

And the cycle continues!

In the meantime, quality posts are burried under the worthless spammy posts and every ounch of authenticity is being sold for some beer money

Where does it end? It doesn't end. Simple as that. Maybe it will end when the cow is dead, but assuming crypto will be around for a long time, then get ready to milk that shit.

I am a sad fuck, I know that. I am complaining about the platform I am writing in. Hey, who cares? It's not like this post will see the light anyway. There are too many words, too little nuditiy and no vote bots.

Why don't you leave?

Fuck off, because I said I will make this work, without using vote bots and godamn I WILL.

And I will write content I LIKE, not some pathetic, squishy loser who seeks out my 0.00001 vote power.

Or who knows? Maybe I will drop a couple hundrend dollars, shit all over Steemit and GTFO. Whatever I feel like it.

See, my mistake was thinking this platform could be different, because it was decentralized. What a fool...

Same rules apply. The average reader is a dumb bag of rocks. He wants low-level entertainment. He gets fooled by "7 Ways to Make 10k with Bitcoin TODAY". He is too much of a pussy to voice his opinion, but he is passive-agressive whenever his ego is hurt. He can't read more than 300 words at once.

I could take advantage of this. But I am a G.

It's not clickbait bro. Don't be mad bro

If you actually want to read something origininal and more interesting than anything you've seen on Steemit:

How to Write A Quality Steemit Post

Are We Living In The Best or Worst Times

P.S- If you're reading this, then I must say you don't suck too much.

Sort:

I'm new to Steemit and I noticed this "bot" thing you're describing here.
So are you optimistic or pessimistic ?

With quality content, is there a way (even if it's the hard way) to get to the top and earn money that is deserved or the only way is to play the bot game ?

If there's no way to get visibility even with quality content, isn't it better to post on other media sites (depending on your subject) ? Sometimes you won't get paid at all but at least you could get some traction in a real community that really values your input (event if not in monetary terms) ?

Anyway, thanks for your post, and please continue to speak your mind !

Hey, it depends on what do you really want.

If you seek to make money and you've never done this writing online gig, then steemit isn't your best choice. I would recommend buying a domain and write there. Post some affiliate links, grab a ppc offer, see how that works out for you.

If you are experienced and you can pump daily quality content and you actually write for a living, meaning you would write at least 1000 words everyday no matter what, then Steemit could be your thaaaaaang.

That said, I am also new here. I've seen how most platforms work though. In all honesty, you get pretty decent exposure compared to medium.

Time will tell though.

I'm really new to all this "writing" thing.
I began to write a series of articles explaining my journey making a provably-fair game (what I assume to be quality content, or at least personal and unique).

But when you put some time into it and see no reward for it (10 views on each, for 1 upvote and 1 follower), it's king of discouraging, so I made a bot that post tweets automatically (so copied content with no effort) on a popular subject (cryptocurrency) to see what the results are (Quality and unique content VS Popular and copied content just aggregated).

For now, I'm gaining a lot more followers with the "automated" technique, but no difference in upvotes (I get really few to none).

Nice to know that on every platform it is difficult to get an audience, but I think that I will move to a dedicated "website" or "blog" for my serious articles.

At this point, you should be writing like a madman. Or at least write every day. Don't let that muscle to atrophy. Steemit, medium, a free wordpress blog or offline.

Because there's a difference between exposure and actually capturing the lead. The former, you can simply put out garbage content and people would still view. The latter, you need to write decent copy.

Thanks for all your advices,

I will concentrate on training my writing skills from now on, without thinking about consideration (sorry I'm French, I mean recognition for my work "reconnaissance") or exposure. Just write for my pleasure to share with a potential audience.
Only later will I begin to worry about those things. I began the process backwards, time to correct course.

Thanks a lot, and I look forward to be reading you in your next posts !

No problem. And honestly there isn't a straight line to this. I certainly don't have all the answers, so keep that in mind.

Hey @redbeardguy,
I just found you because you upvoted my post. So I thought by myself: take a look what this guy writes about.
And I found some interesting looking posts which I will read the coming weekend.
OK - this comment has nothing to do with above post - just wanted to let you know: I'll be back and comment some more.
Why not now? Because it's 10 PM over here, I still have to walk one of the two dogs, did not eat yet and need to get up at 6:30 AM again 😂
CU soon and keep up the quality work.
