A Vote For The Future - A Political Based Rant shunning the American "3rd Party is a Wasted Vote" ideology.

A Vote for The Future

Why does America resign itself to the fact that there are only two parties and that will not change? It is short-sighted. What is it that causes the majority to look only at the present and ignore the future. Rome was not built in a day, and most good things require work and time before they reach maturity.
I am not even claiming that the Libertarian Party is necessarily the answer (although I do agree with the majority of its platforms), but I am claiming that the America that is convinced that a vote outside of either D or R is a "wasted vote." Or "Now isn't the time for a protest vote."This is absurd. Now is exactly the time.

Our presidential candidates have deteriorated consistently with the polarization of the parties and the expansion of crony capitalism. If we don't allow alternative parites to grow and provide support to them via voting, then they will never gain credence. Our votes are not simply electing the next president. Each vote also adds credence to the person and party to whom that vote was given.

Let us, for 1 minute, ignore the chances of winning for all candidates and consider the fact that your vote is directly affecting the person you will vote for in 4 years, in 8 years, 12 years. I'm voting for the chance to have a good leader with a platform I can actually agree with on more than 50% of the issues. I'm voting Libertarian because all changes have to start somewhere. I cannot prescribe to the status-quo that claims change is impossible. Not Now. Not Ever.

Please share this idea. If you want to use this post via comment, re-steem, or otherwise, feel free. I just want as many people as possible to understand the futility of voting for the "lesser of two evils."

Sort:

If libertarians get over 5 percent this year a the party will get a lot of money for party building next election and we will have more intense competition. Look a ukip party. After 10-15 years of slowly gaining they got what they wanted. A high percent will also lead the big parties to pander to them next time around.

By the way you should power up the Steem. Go to walket and hit power up. If you do that your votes will be worth more and you'll participate in inflation.
