Truth or Fable?

It'd be great if Steemit could be a place for us to also have discussions and not just focus on money. (will that even work, I wonder)

So if I pose this question to you:
Do you prefer the truth, or do you prefer a fable? And why?
Do you want the hardcore grime, or a happy fantasy tale that hides the slime?
Is one better than the other?
Does choosing one over the other reflect something about us and our culture?
