This scholar and gentleman is best known for his documentary series The Ring of Fire: An Indonesian Odyssey, is a series of five documentary films that documented the ten-year voyage of two filmmakers, brothers Lorne Blair and Lawrence Blair, through the world's largest and least known archipelago. Financed by Ringo Starr, the Blair Brothers arrived in Indonesia from England in 1972. The Indonesian archipelago was still dominated by ancient paganism and the Blaire Brothers spent over two decades documenting the ecology of the islands and the spiritual beliefs of its peoples.

One major result was the Emmy-nominated BBC/PBS television series Ring of Fire, a masterwork of modern adventure and ethnographic film. Cut from 80 hours of 16mm film in co-production with WGBH, Boston, RING OF FIRE was produced, directed and photographed by Lorne Blair and co-produced and written by Lawrence Blair. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Blair on a few occasions, star-struck mostly. The first time was in a public place, I recognized his voice behind me. I turned around, there he was standing there, 6ft'1 and a parrot on his shoulder. Don't think I'll ever be in a situation like that again, you see, Dr. Blair also sports an eye-patch on his left eye. A moment, I shall never forget.

Leading up to the seminar, we'll be having a few interviews with Dr. Blair. Some of these interview questions will stem from questions you Steemians ask me, here on this forum. The comments section below will serve as the playing field for our curiosity. It's a Steem Grown project.

Not many folks are aware, but Lawrence also published a book in 1976 titled Rhythms of Vision which was an exploration into the Mystic nature of oneself. In my humble opinion, topics of this work resonate more today, than ever before.

In addition, we are frantically prepping for a special guest to sit down and talk to Dr. Blair next week. It'll be the first of these interviews mentioned above, and its going to be spectacular. We're going to present you Steemians a lovely conversation between two Legends in their respective fields.
