Interesting. I see your point. There's a simple honesty to being naked in public. When I lived in Germany, people at the beach would strip down and then put on their swimsuits. The swimsuit was protective, not ornamental.
In some ways, the social disconnection we experience as a result of no longer publicly bathing is more insecure, more sad.
