Secret STEEM Hashtags: Do They Work? (No!)
Sometimes secret tricks are discussed here in a way to find a Holy Grail to be upvoted by other steemians for all of your #Steemit stories. For example, both @craig-grant and @trevonjb were introducing their hashtags #CraigRant, #TrevonJB and #UpvoteForUpvote to guarantee you more upvotes and more earnings on your blog post.
This is interesting thing for me to research - do this tags really work as proposed? Will anyone marking his posts with this tags earn more money for sure?
To check this theory I jumped deep into the STEEM blockchain and made some research for all of this hashtags effects individually. I've calculated an average money earning for users posting with hashtags and the same users' stories when they do not put examined tags into the blog posts.
The results are listed in the table:

How to interpret this results
For all of the examined tags the same result was received: using these "secret" tags will effectively reduce the chance your story will be upvoted in comparision when you do not tag your post this special way. It is quite logic and predictable - I absolutely have no doubts @craig-grant, @trevonjb and other steemians will notice your cool story without any special tags on it.
Moreover, most users will notice you mark your articles with irrelevant tags in the effort to make some money. This may trigger the opposite effect of not upvoting your story or ever downvoting you. And this really works this way: using special tags, designed to earn money have controversial result: you story will make much less money compared to fair play with relevant tags.
Conclusion: There is no magic on #STEEM other than write excellent articles in creative way.
Be creative and do not spam your stories with non-relevant tags: here is the only secret to success on STEEM.
