¿WHAT IS STEEMIT? Series: Education Steemit (chapter 1) For new users

in #steemit6 years ago

This is the first episode of the Education Steemit series and there is more to come. As the utopian rules require that the first blog post of a series contain clear explanations and expectations about the series, I will fulfill this requirement before moving on to the main topic.

The Steemit education series will take every reader from the basics of Steemit to the advanced level of understanding. The application of shared knowledge through this series will allow Steemit users, new or old, to succeed in obtaining more rewards, reputation, followers and appreciation. It will be a regular series with two or three publications each week. Stay tuned.

Let's go back to the main topic now.

What is Steemit?

While this publication can help many potential new users who search Google on Steemit, reading it is important to most current Steemit users, especially novices and users struggling to master this incredible website. It is important to know what Steemit is to have a greater chance of success with whatever you try to do here.

Steemit is a social media that rewards people with Crypto!

A website or social media application requires you to create an account, read content from others, share your content, interact with others through comments, and react to others' content in some way (such as applaud, vote, etc.) . Steemit does all this too, so it's a social networking website. Like all social networks, you need to get some followers and get noticed.

But Steemit is not your usual social medium. It's worth it, and that also in cryptocurrencies. It is the first social networking platform that does it and, by far, the largest.

Steemit is a decentralized blog platform

Consider Steemit as the WordPress software; The most popular blog platform on the Internet. Or consider it as Medium. The difference is that Steemit is decentralized and worth it. Decentralization means the absence of central control. The entire network is managed by the users and the witnesses who choose with their vote. A single person or a board does not make decisions that affect users. But there are some considerations.

  • Steemit does not need me to buy a domain name for blog. Your username Steemit is your blog.

  • You do not need to buy online storage space from a web hosting company. It is administered according to your participation in the platform.

  • It has visual editors, rebates and HTML to create your blog posts. Marking style is the most common editing option, since comments are designed only with this option.

Anything you believe (a comment or a publication) can receive rewards if readers find that your effort is worth some favorable votes.

Nothing that you publish in Steemit can be deleted or lost, since it is permanently stored in the chain of blocks.

Many renowned authors, such as @neilstrauss, join Steemit and use it as a blogging platform. I myself have almost abandoned my personal blog in favor of Steemit since I joined here.

Steemit is a dApp built in Steem Blockchain

As already discussed, Steemit is decentralized. This aspect comes from the fact that Steemit is a decentralized application (dApp) built on the chain of blocks Steem. Steem is the best performing block chain in the industry at the moment. Now there are many dApps created on Steem, like @ utopian-io, but Steemit is the first and the main implementation of the blockchain code of Steem.

Whatever you do in Steemit is, in fact, an interaction with the chain of blocks. Your rewards and content are also stored in the block chain. Have you noticed how easy it is to massively adopt blockchain technology with Steemit?

Conclusion

The purpose of this introductory publication on Steemit is to build a solid foundation for the next episodes of the Steemit Education series. As the series progresses, I will cover everything step by step and I hope to create a great resource in Steemit for all; especially the new members. Share your comments in the comments below. I am particularly interested in knowing what you want to see covered in the next series.
