Therefore, if you are BELOW them, they will empathize on you. So, if something, what they're gonna try to do is to help you. It makes them feel good about themselves too. They help you, because they want to free themselves from guilt and silence their nagging conscience. Others help you because they want to be recognized as the one who helped you. There are some who even take pride in self-recognition, claiming that if it weren't for them, you won't be where you are.
If you are ON THEIR SAME LEVEL as they are, the chances of making friendship with them will be high. People generally want to be friends with people whom they can call their equal.
If you are ABOVE them, too bad, they will be insecure now and might even go as far as talking behind your back. They won't be good to you. Some will be intimidated, while some will hate you because they think you are better than they are. ¿Could you imagine that?
In conclusion.. ¿How Equal Do You Think You Are?

What about we start a contest to educate the reaggeton millenials we make a post where we make submissions of great 70's and 60s songs numbered, people votes in the comments by the song number and leaves an actual comment about why he/she liked that one and votes and RS the post to be elligible.
At the end of the monetize cycle we choose the best comment and send he/she half of the post's revenue, the other half powerup for more payouts?

As for your proposal to start a contest to try educate reaggeton millenials about actual good music. In my opinion, not just try educate specifically to this generation, but to everyone else in general. I am just waiting for the communities feature to materialize and become a final reality on steemit to start right away this very same thing that you propose here with all its weight and power. The Delightful 'Abstract Aural Bit' Group on steemit. Project which from long time ago I have fully conceived and developed already. :)
