RE: Toggle Button For Work & Home - Option To Hide Keywords and Hashtags That May Offend You
I think a simple settings page where you could check a box to allow NSFW content would be a simpler solution. I do like the idea of being able to hide tags your sick of seeing though.
Yes a blanket #NSFW with certain terms and tags able to be hidden is a simpler solution, but I feel some people might view something like erotic photography different than violent content even though both may fall into the same category #NSFW category.
A list of suggested types of content you could put checkmarks by that you could toggle individually would be something that would customize steemit to your individual beliefs/preferences.
And since this is a decentralized platform, I feel you should be able to see as much or little as you wanted.
You could potentially turn off every other category besides crocheting and photography if you really only wished to see that content.
Just a baby idea, but thanks for your input @phoenixmaid! Hopefully others wish to weigh in as well and get this feature implemented.
I don't think being able to turn of everything bar one or two topics would be a good idea otherwise we could quickly descend to the same place as face book and twitter which have essentially become echo chambers robbing us of the joy of discovering new content, thoughts and ideas.
True, but I think that everyone should be free to do as they wish. You can already basically do that by going on steemwatch and only selecting a few topics. I doubt everyone would do this, but it might cater to a few people who would only really want to see others photography, and I believe they should be free to do that.
The majority will continue to enjoy new content and create
But a musician may wish to only see other music content and still be a part of steemit and contibute in a way like this
Some people just want to consume and vote on content so I feel as long as they are engaging with steemit in a positive way, they should be able to treat it as they wish.
