300 followers - and a lesson to the nay-sayers
When I started on this journey with Steemit, I received a negative reaction from quite a few people. All the usual bits of negativity, it's bound to flop. It's a pyramid scheme (Though how that could be without me putting in anything but effort). Its a scam. Who is going to just give you money?
I am happy today to say that I have 300 followers, met intelligent and interesting people and I am having fun in the process.
Here is a quote from that great statesman and wit. Sir Winston Churchill.
Congrats @petruska13 on your 300 followers achievement. Keep on going on.
Thanks so much @veejay, I intend to. I will keep a eye out for your posts. Thanks for the comment and the upvote, much appreciated.

Hi Pretruska13, I have had people trying to sell me all kinds of stuff for SBD's. I have not had any negative responses but the "I'll help you if you buy something, upvote me, resteem me, and the REALLY BIG ONE "GIVE ME YOUR PASSWORD". I totally agree with you, perseverance is the name of the game and I'll add COVER YOUR ASS! I have flagged one guy who tried to sell me resteem on one of my post. I am now following you and look forward to your adventures here on Steemit. I hope Steemit sets up a Taskforce to end the scammers out there.
I have had a few of those myself. If like-minded people stick together and keep this platform running in right direction, we can make a difference. Thank you for the well thought out comment, another of my pet peeves is the one or two word comment. Makes me feel that they did not really read the post.
I agree. I have watched some videos on Steemit and found that many just look for post that are going to get a lot of action. This is because when the payout for a high volume post takes place, everyone who upvoted, resteem and/or comments makes money as well. This encourages members to cruise the post, looking for hits. I have to approve of the Steemit policy to help out newbies though, this was a GREAT idea. Those who have been around the block get big payoffs for doing the above for them, without asking for payback.
I agree with you fully on this, the cruising for high payouts is not in the best interests of good blogging. It is very discouraging to get a .003 payout for some you spent a few hours on. It is better to write for enjoyment and leave the rest to fate. Quality will rise to the surface.
Congratulations!

Thanks a lot @acwood, your comments and upvotes are much appreciated. I see from your introductory post that you were in the communications industry, I worked for Siemens on auto-construction. Enjoy your day.
Congrats ...
Thank you. It has been a great experience.
Resteemed and upvoted. I like the Churchill quote. At the end of the movie Dunkirk there is a very inspirational quote by him.."We will fight on the beaches...etc"
He was a great wartime leader, A wit and I think, a total rebel. A very deep individual.
he was a son of a bitch too though, we must remember.
talking of the palestinians he said
and many other things good and bad.
I agree with you, definitely no saint. Impetuous, bad-tempered, probable alcoholic and a depressive but he got the job done.
him and his black dog too
cheers
Those are the types of people I like. Like general Patton and maybe Trump too. The total opposite of the modern Intellectual Yet Idiot. I wrote about it in this post if you are interested https://steemit.com/news/@pjcswart/its-all-about-the-bias-trump-the-cnn-anchor-and-the-absurdity-of-mainstream-media-4-minute-read
I like your profile words:
"We are like bubbles floating around, we touch only lightly and burst without sound."d
I have no idea what it means but it is totally awesome.
I agree, I love the ones that break the mold, that don't follow the pack. Many of my friends fit that category. The meaning I was trying to convey in my short poem written in 1978 is about the ephemerality of life, we meet people, experience highs or lows with them, then they move out and we perhaps never see them again but they leave an impression. Thanks for the comment and upvote it is highly appreciated.
I see what you mean. What a beautiful way of putting it. Do you have other similar poems? Had to go look up that word, epheperality.
Transitory it says. I I like your perspective and the bubble analogy. I hope you have a wonderful day. I don't usually do this, but you seem like a maritime enthusiast, so thought I would send you a link to the post I did this morning: https://steemit.com/mba/@pjcswart/maritime-chronicles-episode-9-a-rather-peculiar-industry-12-minute-read
Thanks, I will definitely have a look at it. I do have other poems, I plan on posting them at intervals.
Thank you so much for checking it out. Looking forward to your other poems. I hope you have a wonderful day!! Following You!!!
Good quote, thank you for sharing!
Thanks @hope777, I think the time has come for bed. Have a good evening.
hey, I will throw in my favourite quote from WC
which is difficult to argue with.
congrats on outlasting the nay-sayers.
have you had anyone changing their tune?
Great quote! In 1978 in penned these words, probably a bit under the influence :)
Democracy does not really rate,
Ten million fools decide your fate.
Getting someone to change their tune?
Not so far but a few said they will look into it - we'll see
This is a strange ole life we are living..
