I actually bookmarked this on esteem so i could come back for a second read. This is a very good post and analysis, have now resteemed.
I see very few whales (purple) in the second chart :-(
Most of the whales are either exchanges, steemit employees or other bot services who rarely curate. Orcas are the deciding factor in trending a post nowadays.
