So many posts in Steemit are about Steemit itself! A suggestion...

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

On Steemit, we have a lot of posts about Steemit. In Literature and Semiotics, this is called self reference. Novel and essays are self referencial when their text talks also of that novel/essays itself.

But, wait, Steemit is not a novel or an essay. It is a container of posts. A collective blog. So, it is absolutely normal to see posts about the container, its authors and its rules. (In fact, I think we should categorize this particular posts as "secundary literature" -but I don't want to digress.)

Nevertheless, there is a problem when you have a blog where many post - most of the top rated ones, I'd guess - talk about the blog itself. The problem is that the blog in its entirety looks poorer than it actually is.

This happens becouse every post is a brick that contributes to build the identity of the blog - of Steemit. And this is a problem with regard to the goal to have a lot more users in Steemit.

So, my suggestion is to have a room all by itself to put the posts about Steemit and its rules in. Take them off of the frontpage.

I know: this is just another suggestion/request about the frontpage of the platform, and all these issues are not to be solved in the beta version.

But, see, Steemit doesn't look a beta version anymore. It risks to look a poor release of itself.

Just a feeling!

(For the records, this post talks about the self reference of Steemit posts, and this post is on Steemit: it is a "self self referencial" post :D)

I do understand your point

yes, It's not a problem for me to find what I like, I just think to how Steemit can appear to new users.

Agreed. I wished we would be able to follow different topics/boards and decide if we want to read all the self referential stuff or not. Maybe new user should be asked for their preferences, like it is a usual practice on other social media sites.
