Hard Fork 0.17.0: Let's get ready for the voting power delegating feature. Users spontaneous mini-guilds coming?
The Hardfork 17 is waiting for a decision, after its procrastination. Assuming that it will be approved, one of the new things will be the chance for every user to delegate his steem power to another user for a week(?) (no witness is against this change, it seems). Update: The delegation will be active until one decides to remove it, and it will take a week to have own steempower back.
I don't know if this feature will be in the HF, since apparently there's a bug. (Update: it seems it's nothing serious)
But, if it will be solved and the delegating option will be approved, then something in the dynamics of Steemit could change, I think.
I mean, users will be allowed to create weekly groups with a curator that will have a good voting weight - that is basically what guilds do know (and what they will keep doing, of course). So it will be possible to have little groups of users that know and trust each other and that could decide to have a weekly curator (about one topic, possibly).
I think it can be and interesting form of active collaboration, more engaging than being in a guild.
We could try to create one of this groups as of now.

So, all the steem power of the guild partners will be concentrated and one representative then votes for the whole group?
I think so, but it's not going to be a guild, just a group that delegates one trusty user, and just for a week.
my mistake: the delegating is until you remove it, and the removing will take a week to have effect
Once you delegate, the delegation is instant and forever. If you decide to cancel the delegation, it'll take one week to get the SP back. The other condition is you can't delegate SP you're powering down, or power down SP already delegated.

It doesn't change the possibility to have spontaneous groups with a fixed lifetime, though.
