Errbody Calm Down: HF 19 changes nothing.steemCreated with Sketch.

I’m seeing a lot of “guard your votes carefully” sentiment now that your votes actually mean something.

Respectfully (well, not really), WTF? Were you really throwing tons of votes around because they weren’t worth much? That’s definitely not the way to add value to a system.

Look, you should treat all of your votes for exactly what they are, regardless of their worth to you or anyone else.

We are building a system here, it is a commons, and we need to all be as careful as possible in making sure we are constantly adding value to the system.

As @markrmorrisjr says, we are pioneers. That pioneering aspect comes with both great reward and great responsibility. WE (you, me, everyone on the platform) are the ones developing Steemit, it’s up to us to build it well.

If you like content and you think it adds value to Steemit, vote for it.

There’s actually not THAT much great content that you can run out of votes IF you’re only voting for truly high quality posts.

So, stop sweating HF19. Do the right thing always. You’ll be fine.

Get ‘em!

Good stuff Nik. That photo makes me laugh...:)

Yeah, I figured you'd like it. Maybe I should have you take the next one...

Hey hey hey... look who joined the 🎉 party! Yaaaaas!!! 😝😏😎

Well HELLO there...:)

Mnnnn! 🎉time!
You know it! 😝😏😎

To me, the funniest thing about everyone worrying about over-voting and how it decimated our steem power is that most of us are looking at 20% vote payouts that are worth more than our 100% votes were 2 days ago. So even when you're low on steem power, you're still contributing more to content creators now than you were before.

The people this really affects is people who were running bots. I don't feel sorry for them, as they made a lot of money auto-voting while the getting was good. Now it's better to be precise with your votes than spraying and praying. Can't wait to see how much better the content on the platform gets now that people aren't rewarded by bots for putting out several law quality posts a day for the auto votes. Now they're on a level curation field with my mediocre blog 😂

Yeah, it's one of those "rational" things. :) I'm psyched to see Steemit continue to improve; the higher the quality, the more good people we'll get, the more good info they put out...it's a virtuous circle. Yes!

Thanks for this post. I agree. My vote is not worth much at all at this point so others may feel differently, but I think steemit will prosper if we all act naturally. Vote for things you find beautiful, excellent, valuable, interesting, and educational. Follow great posters. When we begin to consciously try to game the system, we all lose and I think steemit loses as well.

100% @eightyyroldself, you nailed it! We all forget that with the right be beautiful, excellent, valuable, interesting, educational also comes the responsibility to provide those things. Glad you're on board, mate!

It's tricky, sometimes I blur the line on truly worthwhile votes to e.g. help out a noob. I agree though, I'm probably not helping the long term objective when in the occasional 'blur' mode :)

Agree.

I think there's a difference between helping a noob who may not have a truly excellent post but could use the encouragement (although why not just comment with helpful advice?) and just upvoting every damn thing that you see, which is what it seems like was the general system for many in the past.

Real talk right here... Value post here :)

Thanks Charles, loved the Wednesday Motivation post you did!
