Is It Worth Promoting your Content and Reinvesting Your Steem?

So taking a look at all of your wonderful posts I see this promote button that allows you to pay to promote content. Looking at the promoted page, we can see that these posts have a lot of views and upvotes! Some of them on the high end having around 300-600 upvotes alone! Wowza! And these posts aren't making small chump change either. Almost between $8-$20 a post.

So my question to you guys is: Is it really worth it to reinvest your Steem gains to promote your content? Is there a profit potential?
