DID TREVON JAMES LOST 643.689$ ON STEEMIT?! Has justice been done?👨‍⚖️ + personal witness

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

I just got home from cinema and while I was browsing some posts on steemit I've ended up stalking some people profile. I don't usually do this, but I've luckily found out some really intersting news.

This post from @themarkymark says that he is banning Trevon James from using @buildawhale which is a bot that allows any Steemian to bid a minimum of 0.10 SBD to use its services to upvote a high-quality original piece of content they find on the Steemit platform, or even to reward themselves after putting their mind, body, and soul into creating a piece of content for the Steemit community .

Basically, there is a witness system and ranking on the site that allows you to vote for a witness. Once the person is voted and gets higher in rank he gets more Steem Power in order to "purify" the steemit from "illegal" content. The majority decides always as the majority can vote and stop their vote about one witness anytime, a witness is like a representant of the community who has lot of SteemPower to downvote and stop the rewards of the people that abuse/ are not welcome in the system.

Once @themarkymark and a lot of other influencers on steemit found out about trevon's plan and knowing his history they started to downvote him so he won't get anymore "free money" from this community as he is not welcome at all here, but he's just trying to cheat the system using the remaining people that still support him.

I'm new to this steemit community and there's a lot I learn everyday! To my shame, I came across one of trevon james' posts on the site and as it had a lot of engament and it was appreciated by most of the people I followed the herd. I upvoted and posted a topic related comment in order to contribute to the post and the community.

At the moment I've downvoted the post and removed my comment. To be honest, even if I'm ashamed of what I've done I am really happy that this happened. I personally like to learn form my own mistakes, so I learned a lesson and I'm really excited about how steemit works, TRULLY EXCITED I would say. Few days ago I've made a post where I asked community if "instagram girls" who share sexual content will have a good life here, on steemit. Aparently, what happened with trevon and the crew gave me a really good insight of how the site works and how succesful it can get in the future !!!

I was curious about how trevonjb's wallet looks right now after he was downvoted to the hell. Craig grant, which was a bitconnect promoter as well, received kind of the same treatement by the community. I'm not sure if I'm reading their wallet and Steem Power properly but did these guys actually lost 90% of their Steem Power, respectively 90% of their Steem which is 90% of the account value in USD? For trevon james thats actually 643.689$ worth of loss and I think it would compensate A SMALL PART for the losses that he has made to the people with bitconnect ponzi scam. I will link down below photos with their steem wallets.

I would have no problem if you guys would downvote my post for what I've done. I'm still new and I'm getting a better understanding of how steemit works everyday. Please share me your opinion about this in the comments section and feel free to tell me if/where I've been wrong in this post. Thank you for reading! 🙌

Sort:
  1. No one loses SteemPower by downvoting.
  2. Witnesses do not need to have a lot of power. The higher in rank the more blocks they get.
  3. Witnesses are not sheriffs and are not here to keep steemit clean, they are here to keep the blockchain running.
  4. The two mentioned are scammers, that is true, but witnesses do not need to do anything about it. They can if they want to as any other user.
  1. The main thing I miss interpret was that I thought a person is losing steempower once he gets downvoted. A
  2. I knew that witnesses do not necessarily need to have a lot of power, but implying they are really important for the community and that they get more steempower as they get higher in ranks that's usually happening.
  3. I think they have a really strong point of view and people follow them, that's why they are voted for, right?
  4. I think witnesses play a big role in "cleaning" the steemit from these kind of steemians as they have a really strong point of view, backed up by the community! :)

I'm still new in that and I wanted this post to be a "community post" in which you guys answer/ correct me where I'm wrong. Thank you for clarifying, @alexvan!

Its all good. Steemit has a learning curve but you will understand it in time. Yes one can not lose already acquired steempower but the payouts can stop on posts that have not reached 7 days. I detailed a bit of what happened with the Trevon situation in post a few minutes ago actually. https://steemit.com/bitconnect/@realmsofcrypto/the-rise-and-fall-of-trevon-james

nice one mate! I left you one comment on your post!

Theoretically, steem power can not drop if someone downvoted ,
Because it's something you've already earned,
Voting in the steemed platform is exactly like using a PC for mining BTC,
There if you won 1 btc no one can take it back,

By dropped steem power then there are two options:
1. Power down
2. errors in the system

thanks for clarifying, I miss interpret this but as I said I want this to be a discussion between you and me :D

Hello, can you contact me please on facebook ? : Me on Facebook

You can't loose the steem you already have through downvoting. That minus that you see in steem power is either delegated or he made power down.
Downvoting affects the rewards of the posts and the reputation on steemit.

are you sure that his steempower can't go really low if he gets massively downvoted?

Doesn't work that way. Downvoting a post just removes some of that posts revenues and affects reputation, just like sstefan said.If he gets constantly downvoted, he won't earn anymore, and his reputation will go lower, but his own steampower is not affected.

Ok, I get a better overview now. Thank you, guys!

I don't think it is a loss, I think that trevon is delegating his steem power to someone else for a return. That is why his steem power is in minus. He lost nothing, that SOB has still 600k with steemit.

Yep, Ive finally understood that he didnt actually lose money. Can you explain me what delegating steem power actually means?

It means that you are leasing a portion of your steem power to an entity (i.g. minnobooster bot) in exchange of stream of SBD income (depends of the size of SP that you are delegating.)
