Whales on Steemit and how often do they vote ??

Steemit is surely a revolutionary platform where you connect and share content with others . On top of this you get paid and cash out when you want. I have seen some really successful accounts, some with few followers but with big balances. Some accounts are relatively new and were created this year but are doing very well compared to earlier accounts that have posted lots of content.

Does the quality of content and followers really matter on steemit ?

You guessed right ,it does ...that's why we have whales, people welding lots of voting power ! I have also seen some really basic short content earning well and beating much better content. How does this happen ? Isn't it very demoralizing to see poor content rewarded better than rich content ?

Steemit currently has in excess of 300,000 active accounts, I wonder how many of these are whales ?

Questions come to mind when I think of whales here on Steemit, yes they have big accounts and when they vote , it doesn't affect whale account balances, I wonder where the money that is paid to a post comes from ? yes there's steem power and you can invest fiat currency and get power but I don't think all whales had to invest lots of fiat currency to weld power.

Also if Whales voted more regularly on posts, would Steemit lose lots of money ?

I have posted some content on Steemit and seen many good posts but it seems the whales don't vote much. If Whales voted much, what would happen to the Steemit platform ?
If all the whales voted on a particular post, how much would that post earn ?
Would that voting give away lots of money and where would that money come from ?

If you have been on Steemit for sometime, you must have come across the account @Jerrybanfield. He creates lots of good content and is rewarded well. He's joined only recently but you can see that he came with lots of his followers from other platforms such as youtube and facebook. Is this the strategy to wining on Steemit ?

Some accounts try to promote content but I don't see them recouping the cost of promotion. Most promoted content earnings seem to only cover part of the cost ,this makes Steemit very fascinating.

The million dollar question is how can a new account attract whales ?

Sort:

Larger accounts can control their voting percentage. So a whale voting for a newbie wouldn't necessarily imply a huge revenue.

What if these whales voted 100%, what would a post earn ? What if they also voted more regularly, what would happen ?
Does anyone know how many whales we have ?
