Google Pixel 2 - come with improved camera, processor and higher price tag,
rumored to debut on October 5th.

Google’s Pixel 2 will likely use same processor as every other 2017 flagship Android phone

Google launched the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL early this month and it seems that the company forgot to mention the fact that the device contains another Pixel Visual Core image processing chip (hereafter PVC).

Although the pixel 2 camera scored 98 on the DxOMark tests, there is room for improvement, with the exception of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chip, which is hidden inside the smartphone, the PVC chip for Google's unique image processing, and the first in Google's own design.

The company chose not to operate the chip when the device was released, apparently because the development was not ripe enough, so the chip remained dormant.

Pixel Visual Core
Google's new chip is the first in its design and its role is to provide material acceleration for the image processing processes needed for HDR + without using the main processor of the device.

The new PVC chip comes with 8 specialized image processing units (IPUs) in addition to the Cortex-A53 single core CPU, along with an unknown volume of LPDDR4 memory that will allow 5 times faster image processing and less than a tenth of the energy Which is required for similar processing in the standard processor.

According to Google, the new chip will be activated in the next developer update to Android Oreo version 8.1, and the company also confirms that developers will have access to the new chip and will not be used by Google's camera app only.

Another important detail that Google has said is that the chip can be used for other purposes, since in practice it is another processing unit that exists on the device other than the Snapdragon 835 processor, with additional chip applications in the future.

HDR+
High Dynamic Range (HDR) uses several images taken in several different exposure modes to create one image in a dynamic range better than each image.

HDR+ is a unique situation for Google today when it comes to upgrading to standard HDR to reduce the "noise" in the images and sharpen the color in addition to the normal dynamic range in HDR

This is one of the reasons why HDR or HDR in a compatible device has a difference of several seconds between the shot and the final image. The PVC chip is designed to reduce this time range.
