As long as you have a centralized organization that controls how information is processed and distributed. Then it will always be open to corruption and promoting its own vested interest. A good example of this in history would be the Catholic Church, which before the arrival of the printing press, controlled how people interpreted the bible (and therefore learned about the world around them). This all changed when the bible, through the printing press, was able to be distributed to everyone.

Facebook is no different to any other organization. This is where Steemit can succeed like nothing else in history.

It's controlled by the many and not the few.
