Clarification: I'm not in favor of the "experiment" (unless it could be done without any flagging)
Hi Steemit,
I just want to clarify that I'm not in favor of the experiment where whales stop voting, at least, in its current form.
If absolutely all the whales stopped voting, I'd be fine with that. Any solution that involves mass flagging many innocent users is not a good solution.
I respect @smooth @abit in that I feel they doing what they think is best for Steemit, but I disagree with the methodology.
I'd rather go back to having a 2 cents vote with no mass flagging, then to have a 15 cents votes with the flagging and the strife.
There is also the issue that the experiment is not being done with any sort of scientific rigor, and again the lack of communication which I've already mentioned.
We agree that zero scientific rigor invalidated the experiment from the gate. Essentially the organizers just broadcasted a strategy with no conclusive method for control. Anarchy in action. We're participating in a Cyber-Marxist revolt in singularity times. Quite exhilarating.

I agree. As a voluntary experiment with only positive reinforcement it could be very interesting. But this flagging is causing negative consequences that cannot be measured mathematically. How do you measure the emotional toll caused by the creation of such a negative environment? This is a social media platform, emotion matters. How many people have quit? How many have told friends to stay away from the negativity? How many have created fewer posts or spent less time on the ones they did post? How many people are having far less fun? Even though none of this can be accurately measured, it still matters (because this is supposed to be social... who throws a party and wants their guests to be miserable?). Perhaps a pre and post survey would have helped measure this. But seriously, who wants to fill out a survey about what should be a fun hobby?
I've been commenting and replying. Yet I have mostly resisted working on anything I'd normally do. I have posted when something needed to be posted for my sanity, but with the experiment as it is I'd rather wait it out and just talk to people in comments.
I hear you man. It is draining. But its awesome that you have found a way to stay active and to provide some encouragement for those who are posting. They need that boost now more than ever.
I prefer not posting at all over getting flags.
I agree. Ideally if they want to do this they should work on getting Steemit, Inc to implement the inability to up vote or down vote if you are above a certain steem power. Currently I believe that is 384,000 steem power. Set a time frame for the experiment, and then it will be accurate with NO ONE needing to attempt to police it.
As soon as you have to police your data the results are questionable.
I will say we see results that it will change some things. Perhaps for the better. The problem is that we can't tell how well it might actually work due to the other factors being required to try to enforce it.
Only change that will come from that is whales powering down into second and third accounts. :/
Already wrote a really big post talking exactly about this. And powering down takes time. Experiment wouldn't have to run long to see the results.
I want to start posting again, but am waiting until this is over. Have they stated any sort of timeframe for this mass-flagging movement?
Yes. It is only for a couple days but i do believe some krakens are planning to stop voting (their voting is the real issue tbh)
I have to admit that today I woke up laughing but I'm done with little boys games!
I decided to join the dash slack chat because they communicate at least and let regular people know what is going on. That smooth guy never voted for any of my posts but he finds his way to smear on them now. Fine form me if it helps the future of this space but do you really need to crush people's motivation ?
I don't give much attention to this stuff and such unnessary commotion on our posts because I am still Thankful for the few cents. I got 2 $ instead of maybe 4 🙄Oh well
I'll take the bate. You were browne nosing @abit yesterday and defended him when I flagged his downvote.
You have been asking what you did wrong for going on two days now.
You flagged the exact opinion you have written above
B l o c k c h a i n - that is something where you can see what others did. (even in the past)
See it live here You amaze me.
so...
I agree with you too since it the first thing I wrote when I created this account yesterday. Are you going to flag yourself now? Curious
No, I revenge flagged you, for being an ass.
That's cool. I never flag things that in line with my own opinion. As a matter of fact, I had never flagged anyone until yesterday. I was being an ass - to the ones doing the experiment. That's the reason my name is smooth@ @htooms
mind blown :D
